Dear [Redacted],

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to request permission to conduct a research
study for Grade 11 STEM students in the Senior High Department of [Redacted]. I am one of
the members of the [Redacted] faculty and currently a University of the Philippines Cebu
graduate student, and my research project, titled "Using Teacher-Led Collaborative
Modeling to Improve Cohesive Writing Performance of Grade 11 Stem Students: An
Action Research," involves employing Teacher-led Collaborative Modeling to improve the
writing skills of Grade 11 Senior High School STEM students specifically in terms of
cohesion and the appropriate use of cohesive devices. Furthermore, it aims to establish
clear guidelines for the effective utilization of teacher-led collaborative modeling in writing
instruction.

The objective of my study is to enhance the quality of education for students by improving
their writing skills and fostering a deeper understanding of cohesive writing techniques.
This research can benefit both students and educators by enhancing the teaching and
learning process in the classroom and ultimately preparing students for academic and
professional success. I believe that conducting this research in our institution will provide
valuable insights and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of education.

I kindly request your approval to carry out the following activities at the school:

1. Conducting a pretest and an assessment, disseminating an open-ended survey


questionnaire, and scheduling a focus group discussion (only for select students/research
participants) as part of the research study. In line with this, a classroom/venue reserved
for focus group discussions would be used for the study.
2. Collecting data from the meeting minutes during PLC meetings with subject teachers
involved in the study wherein the results or feedback about the implementation of the
learning intervention was discussed.

I assure you that I will take all necessary precautions to ensure that the study is conducted
in a non-disruptive and respectful manner. I will also adhere to all school policies and
guidelines, especially with regard to student privacy and safety.
Additionally, I am committed to providing the school with the final results of the study,
which can be used to benefit the Senior High School department’s educational programs
and initiatives. Furthermore, I will maintain the confidentiality of all collected data and
ensure that any information that could identify the school or its students remains
protected.
I understand the importance of obtaining your permission for this research, and I am
willing to meet with you or your designated representatives to discuss the study in more
