REGULATIONS FOR
POST GRADUATE DEGREE COURSES
UNDER CBCS PATTERN

Effective from 2023-2024


Definitions:

Programme: “Programme” means a course of study leading to the award of a


degree in a discipline.

Course : “Course” refers to a paper / practical / subject offered under the


degree programme. Each Course is to be designed variously under lectures /
tutorials/ laboratory or field work / seminar / practical training / Assignments /
Term paper or Report writing etc., to meet effective teaching and learning needs.

i) Core Courses
“The Core Courses” related to the programme concerned including
practical’s offered under Part III of the programme”.

ii) Elective Courses


“Elective courses” related to the core courses of the programme concerned,
offered under Part III of the programme”.

iii) Individual / Group Project


“The Individual / Group Project” related to the core courses of the
programme concerned, offered under Part III of the programme”.

A detailed explanation of the above with relevant credits are given under
“Scheme of Examination along with Distribution of Marks and Credits”

Duration:
This means the stipulated years of study to complete a programme as prescribed
by the University from time to time. Currently for the postgraduate programme
the duration of study is TWO years. These regulations shall apply to the regular
course of study in university departments and approved institutions affiliated to
this University.

Credits:
The weightage given to each course of study (subject) by the experts of the Board
of Studies concerned. The term ‘Credit’ refers to the weightage given to a course,
usually in relation to the instructional hours assigned to it. For instance, a six hour
course per week is assigned 6/5/4 credits, a five hour course per week is assigned
5/4/3 credits and a four hour course per week is given 4/3/2 credits. However, in
no instance the credits of a course can be greater than the hours allotted to it.

Credit System:
The course of study under this regulation, where weightage of credits are spread
over to different semesters during the period of study and the Cumulative Grade
Point Average shall be awarded based on the credits earned by the students. A
total of 95 credits are prescribed for the Postgraduate Programme offered in two
years.

Choice Based:
All Postgraduate Programmes offered by the University shall be under Choice Based
Credit System. OBE/LOCF Methods are included in this system.
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS):
This is to enhance the quality and mobility of the students within and between the
Universities in the country and abroad.

1. Eligibility for Admission to the Course


A candidate who has passed the Degree Examination, generally as main subject of
study of this University or an examination of any other University accepted by the
Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to the Master
Degree of this University.
No student shall be eligible for admission to a Master’s degree programme in any
of the faculties unless he/she has successfully completed a three year
undergraduate degree or earned prescribed number of credits for an
undergraduate degree through the examinations conducted by a University /
autonomous institution or possesses such qualifications recognized by Thiruvalluvar
University as equivalent to an undergraduate degree. Provided that candidates for
admission into the specific main subject of study shall also possess such other
qualifying conditions as may be prescribed by the University in the Regulations
governing respective courses of study.

2. Duration of the Course


The course shall extend over a period of two years comprising of four
semesters with two semesters in one academic year. There shall not be less
than 90 working days for each semester. Examination shall be conducted at the
end of every semester for the respective subjects.
Each semester has 90 working days consists of 5 teaching hours per working
day. Thus, each semester has 450 teaching hours and the whole programme has
1800 teaching hours.

3. Course of Study
The course of study for the PG degree courses of all branches shall consist of

4. Project

a. There will be a project work which is compulsory at the end of Semester IV


as prescribed by the respective boards of studies.
b. Ph.D. Research Methodology is applicable to write the Project Report.
c. The project should be valued for 75 marks by an external examiner;
however the Viva-Voce examination should be conducted by both the
external examiner appointed by the University and the respective internal
examiner / guide/teacher concerned. The average of marks awarded in the
viva-voce by both the external examiner and the internal examiner is to be
intimated along with the marks obtained by the candidate in project
evaluation, to the University.
d. The Project Report may consist a minimum of 50 pages.
e. The candidate has to submit the Project Report 30 days before the
commencement of the IV Semester Examinations.
f. A candidate who fails in the Project/Dissertation or is absent may resubmit
the project, on the same topic, with necessary modification / correction /
improvements in the subsequent even semester examination for evaluation
and shall undergo viva-voce examination.

5. MOOC:
(i) Inclusion of the PG Level Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) with Two
credits available on SWAYAM, NPTEL and other such portals approved by
MHRD, Government of India.
(ii) For MOOC, the co-coordinator to be nominated in the colleges by
Principal for guiding / supervising MOOC related study of the students. A
mentor to be nominated in each department by the Head of the
Department with the advice of the Principal. Mentor can guide the
students to pass MOOC and MOOC related activities may be organized in
all stages.

6. Requirement to appear for the examinations


a) A candidate shall be permitted to appear for the university examinations for any
semester (theory as well as practical) only if
i. He/she secured not less than 75% of attendance in theory as well as in
practical’s (separate attendance registers shall be maintained for theory
and practical’s) in the number of working days during the semester.
ii. In the case of married woman candidates the minimum attendance
requirement due to maternity shall be not less than 55% of the total
instructional days in theory as well as in practical’s.
iii. He/she earns a progress certificate from the Head of the institution, of
having satisfactorily completed the course of study prescribed in the scheme
of examinations for that semester as required by these regulations.
iv. His/her conduct should be satisfactory.

Provided that it shall be open to the Syndicate, or any authority delegated with
such powers by the Syndicate, to grant exemption to a candidate who has failed to
earn 75% of the attendance in theory as well as in practicals, prescribed, for valid
reasons, subject to usual conditions.

b) A candidate who has secured more than 65% and less than 75% of attendance in
any semester separately for theory and practical’s, shall be permitted to take the
examination on the recommendations of the Head of the Institution to condone the
lack of attendance on the payment of prescribed fee to the University, separately
for theory and practical’s.

c) A candidate who has secured less than 65% attendance in any semester in theory
as well as in practical is NOT ELIGIBLE for condonation of shortage attendance and
such student will not be allowed to proceed to the next semester and to complete
the programme of study. Such student shall have to repeat the semester, which
they have missed by Re-do after completion of final semester of the course, paying
the fee for the break of study as prescribed by the University from time to time.
However, it is left to the discretion of the respective colleges to derive a befitting
methodology (seminar, test, assignment etc.) to record the compensation of lack
of attendance in the form of special attendance outside the business hours and
then allow the students to pay the prescribed fees and to write the examination.
Separate attendance register shall be maintained in theory as well as practical, for
compensating the shortage of attendance. During the hours of compensation of
attendance, the candidate shall not be given attendance for the regular semester
classes. At any time, the university authorities may scrutinize these records to
ensure implementation of these rules and regulations in the interest of the
students.

d) In case of medical emergencies the candidate who has secured less than 65% but
not less than 55% should have medical proof for being hospitalized atleast for four
days.
e) A candidate who has secured less than 65% of attendance in the final semester
separately for theory and practicals, has to compensate his/her attendance
shortage in a manner as decided by the concerned Head of the department, after
getting prior approval of the University. The candidate shall be permitted to rejoin
in the 4th semester, after completing his/her regular 2 year course.

7. Examination
7.1 Scheme of examination
a. Any theory examination is conducted only for 3 hours irrespective of total
marks allotted for the examinations.
b. There shall be theory examinations at the end of each semester, for odd
semesters in the month of October / November; for even semesters in April
/ May. However, there shall be practical examinations at the end of even
semesters in general, with exceptions in a few courses as prescribed by the
Boards of studies, concerned. A candidate who does not pass the
examination in any course(s) shall be permitted to appear in such failed
course(s) in the subsequent examinations to be held in October / November
or April / May.
c. All candidates admitted in first year, should get registered for the first
semester examination, compulsorily. If registration is not possible owing to
any reason including shortage of attendance beyond condonation limit,
belated joining or on medical grounds, the candidates are permitted to
rejoin the course in the next year.
d. In case of project work there will be a Viva-Voce Examination: Each
candidate shall be required to appear for Viva-Voce Examination.
e. For the Project Report, the maximum marks will be 75 of which 50 marks for
report and 25 marks for the Viva-Voce. The other 25 marks will be allotted
to project reviews (minimum two reviews).
f. The results of all the examinations will be published through the college
where the student underwent the course as well as through University
Website. In the case of private candidates, the result will be published
through the Centers in which they took the examinations as well as through
University Website.

7.2 Restrictions to appear for the examinations


Any candidate having arrear paper(s) shall have the option to appear in any arrear
paper along with the regular semester papers, in theory as well as in practicals, as
long as the transitory provision is applicable.

7.3 Medium of Instruction and examinations


The medium of instruction for the courses is English only except for Language
programmes.

7.4 Submission of Record Note Books for practical examinations


Candidates appearing for practical examinations should submit bonafide Record
Note Books prescribed for practical examinations, otherwise the candidates shall
not be permitted to appear for the practical examinations. However in genuine
cases where the students could not submit the Record Note Books, candidates shall
be permitted to take up the practical examination provided the Head of the
Department concerned certifies that the candidate has performed and completed
the experiments, prescribed for the course on the basis of the observation note
book signed by the class teachers, concerned, submitted by the candidate. For
such candidates who do not submit record note books “zero mark” will be awarded
for the record note books in the practical examinations.

7.5 Passing Minimum

a) A candidate shall be declared to have passed the whole examination, if the


candidate passes in all the theory papers and practicals wherever prescribed
as per the scheme of examinations by earning 95 credits in Core and
Elective courses, including practicals.
b) A candidate should get not less than 50% in the University (external)
Examination, compulsorily, in all papers, including practicals. Also the
candidate who secures not less than 50% marks in the external as well as
internal (CIA) examinations put together in any paper / practical shall be
declared to have successfully passed the examination in the subject in
theory as well as Practicals. There shall be no passing minimum for the CIA.
The candidate who absents himself for CIA programmes, even after a
repeated chance, will be awarded zero mark in the concerned subject (zero
to 25 for theory and zero to 40 for practicals).

7.6 INSTANT EXAMINATION:


Instant Examinations is conducted for the students who appeared in the final semester
examinations. Eligible criteria for appearing in the Instant Examinations are as follows:

a) Eligibility: A Student who is having arrear in only one theory paper in the current
final semester examination of the UG degree programme alone is eligible to appear
for the Instant Examinations.

b) Non-eligibility for more than one arrear paper: A student who is having more than
one arrear paper at the time of publication of results is not eligible to appear for
the Instant Examinations.

c) Non-eligibility for arrear in other semester: Student having arrear in any other
semester is not eligible and a student who fails to appear for the final semester
examination is also not eligible for appearing for the Instant Examinations and
those Student who have arrears in Practical /Project are not eligible for the Instant
Examinations.

d) Non-eligibility for course completion: Students who have completed their Program
duration but having arrears are not eligible to appear for Instant Examinations.

7.7 REVALUATION AND PHOTOCOPY OF THE ANSWER SCRIPTS:


Revaluation: All current batch Students who have appeared for their Semester
Examinations are eligible for Revaluation of their answer scripts. Passed out candidates
are not eligible for Revaluation.
Photocopy of the answer scripts: Students who have applied for revaluation can collect
their answer scripts from the respective colleges after seven days from the date of
publication of the results.

7.8 Distribution of Marks


Table – 1(A): The following are the distribution of marks for external and internal
for University (external) examination and continuous internal assessment and
passing minimum marks for theory papers of PG programmes.

7.9 Grading:

Once the marks of the CIA and end-semester examinations for each of the course
are available, they shall be added. The mark thus obtained shall then be converted
to the relevant letter grade, grade point as per the details given below:

7.10 Grade point average (for a Semester):

7.11 Internal Assessment System:

The following teaching, learning and evolution process may be brought under
internal assessment system. Interested teachers can choose one or more innovative
methods.
a. Book review and research paper review, syllabus and curriculum review.

b. Data collection and paper writing practices: books level, field study level.
Using the course content for society and nature development – exercise.

c. Workshops, preparing technical term dictionaries from text books and


reference books.
d. Preparing question paper by the candidates: objective type, descriptive
type, training given by the teacher
e. Forming digital library: collecting text and reference books, course
material.
f. Preparing course material.

g. Following eminent intellectuals and research institutions in global level.


h. Open book examination

i. For application oriented study: Villages, Institutions, various people groups


may be adopted by the departments of the colleges for practicing their
theoretical study. Innovative methods may be implemented in the
practices and report can be written for documentation, further discussion
and research.

j. Extracurricular activities may be framed through their syllabus content.

k. Grouping students for self discussion, self learning and self evaluation
process.
7.12 Classification of Successful candidates
A candidate who passes all the examinations including practicals securing following
CGPA and Grades shall be declared as follows for Part I or Part II:

a. A candidate who has passed all the examination including practicals in the
first appearance within the prescribed duration of the PG programme and
secured a CGPA of 9 to 10 and equivalent grade “O” in Core and Elective
subjects shall be placed in the category of “First Class – Outstanding”.

b. A candidate who has passed all the examination including practicals in the
first appearance within the prescribed duration of the PG programmes and
secured a CGPA of 7.5 to 9 and equivalent grades “D” or “D+” in Core and
Elective shall be placed in the category of “First Class with Distinction”.

c. A candidate who has passed all the examination including practicals of the
PG programme and secured a CGPA of 6 to 7.5 and equivalent grades “A” or
“A+” shall be declared to have passed that parts in “First Class”.

d. A candidate who has passed all the examination including practicalsof the
PG programmes and secured a CGPA of 5.5 to 6 and equivalent grade “B”
shall be declared to have passed that parts in “Second Class”.

7.13 Conferment of the Degree:


No candidate shall be eligible for conferment of the Degree unless the candidate;
i. has undergone the prescribed course of study for a period of not less than
four semesters in an institution approved by/affiliated to the University or
has been exempted from in the manner prescribed and has passed the
examinations as have been prescribed thereof.
ii. has completed all the components prescribed under core and elective
subjects in the CBCS pattern to earn 95 credits.
iii. has successfully completed the prescribed Field Work etc., as evidenced
by certificate issued by the Principal of the College.

7.14 Ranking:
o A candidate who qualifies for the PG degree course passing all the
examinations in the first attempt, within the minimum period prescribed for
the course of study from the date of admission to the course and secures I
or II class shall be eligible for ranking and such ranking shall be confined to
10 % of the total number of candidates qualified in that particular branch of
study, subject to a maximum of 10 ranks.
o In the case of candidates who pass all the examinations prescribed for the
course with a break in the first appearance due to the reasons as furnished
in the Regulations 5(a) (iii) supra are eligible for classification / Distinction.
o The marks obtained in improvement examinations shall not be taken into
consideration for ranking.
8. Grievance Redressed Committee
The College shall form a Grievance Redressed Committee for each course in each
department with the Course Teachers as the members and the HOD as the
convener. This Committee shall solve all grievances relating to the Internal
Assessment marks of the students.
9. Evening College:
The above regulations shall be applicable for candidates undergoing the respective
courses in Evening college/Shift II.

10. Question Paper Pattern


The following question paper patterns shall be followed for the candidates
admitted from the academic year 2022-2023 wherever applicable.

11. Syllabus
The syllabus for various courses shall be clearly demarcated into five viable
units in each paper/subject.
Programme outcome, objectives, outcomes, course outcome and programme
outcome mappings, list of text books, list of reference books, online course
materials shall be given to each paper.

12. Revision of Regulations and Curriculum


The above Regulation and Scheme of Examinations will be in vogue without any
change for a minimum period of three years from the date of approval of the
Regulations. The University may revise /amend/ change the Regulations and
Scheme of Examinations, if found necessary.

13. Checklist for Inspection


a. Qualification for
i. Teaching Faculty: as prescribed by the UGC and the University
a) A teacher with the specific qualifications prescribed by UGC,
appointed in a particular Discipline, is eligible to handle classes in
that particular subject only and also to act as an examiner in theory
and practical for that subject only. This is applicable to programmes
got converted and approved by the Syndicate.
b) A teacher with the specific qualifications prescribed by UGC,
appointed in a particular Discipline, is not eligible to handle classes in
the same or other subjects of other Disciplines and also is not eligible
to act as an examiner in theory and practical for the same or other
subjects of other Disciplines.
ii. Technical Faculty, if any: as prescribed by the UGC and the University
iii. Laboratory Staff, if any: as prescribed by the UGC and the University

b. Infrastructure Facilities
As prescribed in the University application for affiliation.

14. Transitory Provision

(a) Any candidate having arrear paper(s) shall have the option to take the
examinations in any arrear paper(s) along with the subsequent regular
Semester papers.

(b) Candidate who fails in any of the papers shall pass the paper(s)
concerned within 4 years from the date of admission to the said
programme. If they fail to do so, they shall take the Examination in the
revised Text/Syllabus, if any, prescribed for the immediate next batch of
candidates. If there is no change in the Text/Syllabus they shall take the
Examination in that paper with the Syllabus in vogue, until there is a
change in the Text or Syllabus. In the event change of nomenclature of a
previous course and change of Regulations and / or curriculum after 4
year period, the candidates shall have to take on equivalent paper in the
revised syllabus as suggested by the Chairman of respective Boards of
Studies and fulfill the requirements as per Regulations/Curriculum for
the award of the Degree.

(c) This transitory provision will be available till April 2026 for the students
of the old regulation admitted in 2022-2023. Thereafter, they will be
permitted for the examination only under the Regulations in force.

ALL THE ABOVE RULES PERTAINING TO ADMISSIONS ARE ALSO GOVERNED BY THE ADMISSION
GUIDELINES ISSUED BY THE DIRECTORATE OF COLLEGIATE EDUCATION, FROM TIME TO TIME.

2. M.A. ENGLISH
A candidate who (1) has passed B.A. Degree Examination of this University with
English as the Main Subject of study or (2) is a Graduate in B.A and B.Sc. with Part
II English or B.Com. / BBA / BCA / BCS and any such Degree with one year Part II
English where the candidate has scored a minimum of 55% or (3) an Examination of
other Universities accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be
permitted to appear and qualify for M.A. Degree Examination of this University in
this Course of study in the affiliated Colleges / Department of this University.

3. M.A. ECONOMICS
A candidates who has passed the B.A. Economics / Corporate Economics / Business
Economics / B.Com. (all Branches) / B.Sc. Mathematics / B.Sc. Statistics / BBA or
Examinations of other University as approved of by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A. Economics Course.

4. M.A. HISTORY
A Candidate who has passed any Degree Examination of this University or an
Examinations of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A. Degree Examination
in History of this University after a Course of two academic years in an affiliated
college or University Department. Candidates who have passed for the B.A. Degree
(History) Examination shall be preferred for admission to the Course.

5. M.A. PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

A Candidate who has passed any Degree Examination of this University or an


Examinations of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A. Degree Examination
in Public Administration of this University after a Course of two academic years in
an affiliated college or University Department.
6. MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK

A candidate who has passed the Bachelor Degree Examination of this University or
an Bachelor Degree Examination of any other University (including professional
courses like engineering, law, medicine, nursing and fine arts) accepted as
equivalent thereto by the Syndicate shall be eligible to appear and qualify for the
M.S.W. Degree of this University.

7. M.A. DEFENCE AND STRATEGIC STUDIES


A Candidate who has passed any Degree Examination of this University or an
Examinations of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A. Degree Examination
in Defence and Strategic Studies of this University after a Course of two academic
years in an affiliated college or University Department.
8. M.Sc. MATHEMATICS
A candidate who have passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Mathematics of this
University or an Examination of any other University with more than one major
with Mathematics accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be
permitted to appear and qualify for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree
Examination of this University after a Course of two academic years in the
University Department / Colleges affiliated to this University. .

9. M.Sc. PHYSICS
A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Physics with
Mathematics as one of the Allied Subjects or an Examination of any other
University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for
admission to M.Sc. Degree Course in Physics.

10. M.Sc. CHEMISTRY


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination with Chemistry and
Industrial Chemistry as the main subject of study of this University or an
Examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be eligible for admission to the M.Sc. Degree in Chemistry in the
affiliated Colleges / Department of this University.

11. M.Sc. BIOCHEMISTRY


Admission to the M.Sc. Biochemistry Degree Course shall be made as follows :
I Preference
A student who has passed B.Sc Degree with 55% either with Biochemistry or
Chemistry as Major Subjects. 5% relaxation shall be given to SC / ST applicants. 8
II Preference
A student who has passed B.Sc. Degree with 55% and having Chemistry at the
ancillary level and any of the Main Subjects as mentioned below:
1. Biology
2. Zoology
3. Botany
4. Biotechnology
5. Nutrition and Dietetics
6. Any Biology related Subjects

12. M.Sc. ZOOLOGY


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Zoology or an
Examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be eligible for admission to M.Sc. Degree Course in Zoology.

13. M.Sc. BOTANY


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Plant Biology and
Plant Biotechnology / Biology / Botany of this University or an Examination of any
other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be
permitted to appear and qualify for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree
Examination of this University after a Course of two academic years in the
University Department / Colleges affiliated to this University.
14. M.Sc. BIOTECHNOLOGY
A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in any Life Science
Subject with 55% Marks of a recognized Indian University or any other University
accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to
M.Sc. Degree Course in Biotechnology.

15. M.Sc. FOODS AND NUTRITION


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Nutrition, Food
Service Management and Dietetics of this University or an Examination of any other
University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to
appear and qualify for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree Examination of this
University after a Course of two academic years in the University Department /
Colleges affiliated to this University.

16. M.Sc. COMPUTER SCIENCE


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Computer Science or
Computer Science and Technology or B.C.A. of this University or an Examination of
any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be
permitted to appear and qualify for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer
Science Degree Examination of this University after a Course of two academic
years in an affiliated Colleges / Department of this University.

17. M.Sc. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination with Mathematics /
Statistics of this University or an Examination of any other University accepted by
the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for
the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Information Technology Degree Examination of this
University after a Course of two academic years in an affiliated College /
Department of this University. 10

18. M.Sc. BIO INFORMATICS


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc., Degree Examination of this University or an
Examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the Master of Science (M.Sc.)
in Bioinformatics Degree Examination of this University after a Course of two
academic years in an affiliated College / Department of this University.

19. MASTER OF COMMERCE

A candidate who has passed the B.Com.B.Com.(Corporate Secretaryship), B.C.S.,


B.B.A., B.Com. (Bank Management).,B.A (Co-op.), B.A. (Economics), B.A.
(Corporate Economics) and B.Sc. Mathematics or B.Sc. (Computer Science) or
B.C.A. or B. Sc. (ISM) with any two Core Papers offered at the B.Com. level of this
University or an Examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as
equivalent thereto shall be permitted to take the Master of Commerce Degree
Examination of this University after a Course of two Academic Years in the
University Department / Colleges affiliated to the Thiruvalluvar University.

20. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION


Candidates shall be required to have passed a Bachelor’s Degree of the
Thiruvalluvar University or of any other University or a qualification accepted by
the Syndicate of this University as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for
admission to MBA Degree Course.
21. MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
A Candidates who have passed the under mentioned degree examinations of this
University or an examination of other institution by this University as equivalent
thereto provided they have undergone the course under 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 or
11+2+2 pattern shall be eligible for admission to the M.C.A. Degree Course.
(a) B.C.A./B.E.S./B.Sc. in Computer Science/Mathematics/Physics/ Statistics /
Applied Sciences OR (b) B.Com / Bachelor of Bank Management
/B.B.A/B.L.M/B.A Corporate Secretary-ship / B.A. Economics/ any other
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with Business Mathematics and Statistics or
Mathematics /Statistics in Main/Allied level or (c) B.Sc. Chemistry with
Mathematics and Physics as allied Subjects or (d) B.E/B.Tech/M.B.A or (e) A
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects at
the Higher Secondary level (i.e. in +2 level of the 10+2 pattern).

22. M.A. POLITICAL SCIENCE


A Candidate who has passed any Degree Examination of this University or an
Examinations of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A. Degree Examination
in Political Science of this University after a Course of two academic years in an
affiliated college or University Department.

23. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (HRM)


Candidates shall be required to have passed a Bachelor’s Degree of the
Thiruvalluvar University or of any other University or a qualification accepted by
the Syndicate of this University as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for
admission to MBA (HRM) Degree Course.
24. M.A. ARABIC

A Candidate who has passed any Degree Examination of this University or an


Examinations of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A. Degree Examination
in History of this University after a Course of two academic years in an affiliated
college or University Department. Candidates who have passed for the B.A. Degree
(Arabic) Examination shall be preferred for admission to the course

25. M.Sc. INTERIOR DESIGN AND DÉCOR

A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Interior Design and
Decoration of this University or an Examination of any other University accepted by
the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for
the Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree Examination of this University after a Course
of two academic years in the University Department / Colleges affiliated to this
University.

26. M.Sc. PSYCHOLOGY


Candidates shall be required to have passed a Bachelor’s Degree of the
Thiruvalluvar University or of any other University or a qualification accepted by
the Syndicate of this University as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for
admission to M.Sc. Psychology Degree Course.
27. M.Sc. MICROBIOLOGY
A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Microbiology /
Applied Microbiology / Industrial Microbiology / Botany / Plant Science / Plant
Biology and Plant Biotechnology / Zoology / Animal Science / Applied Animal
Science and Animal Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics
/ Biology / Life Sciences / Home Science / Nutrition and Dietetics / BSMS / BAMS /
BUMS / Chemistry with Botany / Zoology as Allied Subjects of this University or an
Examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent
thereto shall be eligible for admission to M.Sc. Degree Course in Microbiology.

28. M.Sc. CYBER SECURITY AND FORENSIC SCIENCE


A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Computer Science or
Computer Science and Technology or B.C.A. of this University or an Examination of
any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be
eligible for admission to M.Sc. Cyber Security and Forensic Science Course.

29. M.Sc. DATA SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ANALYTICS

A candidate who has passed the B.Sc. Degree Examination in Computer Science or
Computer Science and Technology or B.C.A. of this University or an Examination of
any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be
eligible for admission to M.Sc. Data Science and Business Analytics Course.

30. M. Sc. Environmental Science


A candidate who has passed in B.Sc. Environmental Sciences / Life Sciences /
Botany / Agricultural and allied Sciences / Zoology / Microbiology / Biotechnology
/ Biochemistry / Chemistry / Physics / Bioinformatics / Home Science / Food
Science & Nutrition of this University or an Examination of any other University
accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to
M.Sc. Environmental Science Course.

31. M. A. Sociology
A candidate who has passed the B.A. / B.Sc. / M.A. / M.Sc. Examination of this
University or any other University (including professional courses like engineering,
law, medicine, nursing and fine arts) accepted as equivalent thereto by the
Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to M.A. Sociology
Course.
