Attempt the highlighted questions for the 4 March 2025 lecture

 What is an investigation?
 What is the aim of an investigation?
 What is the goal when in initiating an investigation?
 What is the difference between an investigation and an organised crime?
 What is organised crime?
 List five examples of organised crimes? Give reasons for each example.
 List and briefly explain the different attributes (foundations) of an effective investigator.
 List and briefly explain the various areas an investigator must cover for an effective
investigation. (Otherwise known as the check list).
 What information must be included in an investigation plan?
 List and briefly explain at least eight items that must be included/addressed in an
investigation plan.
 Write an essay on a successful and effective investigation. HERE THE ESSAY MUST COVER
THE FOLLOWING: define an investigation, what is its purpose, attributes of an investigator,
checklist for an investigation, a discussion on pocketbooks/notebooks/diaries, a discussion
on taking and writing statements.
 Mention and discuss the sequence of events followed in a crime intelligence investigation
process.
 Discuss the process followed when a criminal prosecution has been finalised.
 Project planning and the examples given. (self-study).
 What are pocketbooks/diaries/ notebooks for to a law enforcement officer?
 What is the purpose of a statement in an investigation?
 List the various principles for an effective statement taking.
 Fully discuss the various sections of a police docket.
