Module for Eni Memorial High Students

Council (EMHSC)

Introduction
At Eni Memorial High, we believe in nurturing not just academic
excellence but also in fostering well-rounded individuals, who are
prepared to lead, collaborate, and contribute to society. To
achieve this holistic development, we proudly introduce the Eni
Memorial High Students Council (EMHSC). The EMHSC shall be a
dynamic and inclusive body comprising dedicated students who
are passionate about making a positive impact within our school
community. This council serves as a platform for students to
actively engage in leadership, promote positive change, and
develop valuable life skills.

Benefits of Students Belonging in the Council:


1. Leadership Development: Being a part of the EMHSC provides
students with hands-on leadership experience. They learn to lead
by example, make informed decisions, and take initiative in
organizing and executing various activities.
2. Effective Communication: Council members hone their
communication skills through interactions with peers, teachers,
administrators, and even external stakeholders. This skill is
invaluable for their personal and professional growth.
3. Collaboration and Teamwork: Working alongside fellow council
members, students develop the ability to collaborate, negotiate,
and work harmoniously as a team to achieve shared goals.
4. Problem-Solving Skills: As student leaders, council members
encounter diverse challenges. Through brainstorming,
strategizing, and implementing solutions, they enhance their
problem-solving skills.

Leadership Structure and Responsibilities


1. President:
i. Must be in SS3 (Senior Secondary 3).
ii. Performs all duties of a Senior School Prefect
iii. Serves as the head of the council, representing the student
body to the school administration.
iv. Oversees the functioning of all council members, ensuring
effective communication and collaboration.
v. Presides over council meetings, setting the agenda and
ensuring discussions are productive.
vi. Acts as a liaison between students and school management,
conveying students' concerns and suggestions.
vii. Exercises leadership by example, promoting unity and
positive behavior among students.
viii. Supports other council members in their roles and provides
guidance where necessary.

2. Vice President:
i. Must be in SS2 (Senior Secondary 2).
ii. Performs all duties of an Assistant Senior Prefect
iii. Assists the President in fulfilling his or her duties and
assumes his or her responsibilities when needed.
iv. Supports the coordination of council activities, meetings, and
initiatives.
v. Collaborates with other members to ensure smooth
operation of the council.
vi. Helps foster unity among students and encourages
participation in school activities.

3. Discipline & Order Ambassador:


i. Must be in SS2 and SS3.
ii. Enforces discipline and maintains order among students,
both within and outside the school premises.
iii. Collaborates with teachers and administration to address
disciplinary issues.
iv. Ensures that council meetings are conducted in an organized
and respectful manner.
v. Promotes a culture of respect, responsibility, and good
conduct among students.
vi. Supervises students serving community service punishment

4. Faith Ambassador 1 & 2:


i. Must be in JSS3-SS3 (one day student and one boarding
student).
ii. Organizes and leads religious activities and events, fostering
spiritual growth among students.
iii. Collaborates with the school chaplain to arrange morning
devotions, solemn assembly and related activities.
iv. Day Student Faith Ambassador assists with disseminating
religious information among day students.
v. Boarding Student Faith Ambassador also serves as the
council treasurer, managing financial matters.

5. Medical and Health Ambassador 1 & 2:


i. Must be a boarding student in JSS3-SS3 (one male and one
female).
ii. Promotes health and wellness among students, working
closely with school health personnel.
iii. Organizes health campaigns, workshops, and awareness
programs.
iv. Provides first aid assistance during school events and
emergencies.
v. Male and female ambassadors address the specific health
needs of their respective genders.

6. Science Lab Ambassador 1 & 2:


i. Must be in SS3 and SS2 respectively.
ii. Oversees the maintenance and organization of science,
physics, and chemistry labs.
iii. Assists teachers and students in lab-related activities and
experiments.
iv. Promotes safety protocols and proper usage of lab
equipment.

7. Senior Library Custodian:


i. Must be in JSS3-SS3.
ii. Manages the school library, ensuring it remains an enriching
resource for students.
iii. Organizes reading events, book clubs, and literacy
initiatives.
iv. Keeps track of library materials, organizes shelving, and
recommends acquisitions.
v. Also serves as the financial secretary of the council,
managing financial records.
vi. Initiates books donation by students, staff and parents

8. Food & Dining Hall Ambassadors 1 & 2:


i. Must be boarding students from SS1-SS3 (one male and one
female).
ii. Monitors the quality of meals served in the school cafeteria.
iii. Collects feedback from students regarding food preferences
and dietary requirements.
iv. Collaborates with the cafeteria staff to ensure hygienic food
preparation and service.

9. Sports Ambassador:
i. Must be in SS3 or SS2.
ii. Promotes sports and physical activities within the school.
iii. Works closely with the Sports Marshal to organizes inter-
house competitions, sports events, and fitness programs.
iv. Represents student athletes' interests and needs to the
school administration.

10. Information Ambassadors 1 & 2:


i. Must be in SS1-SS3.
ii. Disseminates important information to students through
announcements and communication channels.
iii. Works closely with the school's information and
communication teams (BuzzConnect) to collate contents
from students for publication.
iv. Helps maintain the students' connection with school events
and news.
v. Rings bell for prompts between lessons, recess, etc.

11. Senior Ambassador:


i. Must be in SS3 or SS2.
ii. Represents the council as the face of student leadership.
iii. Acts as the General Secretary, responsible for
documentation, correspondence, and record-keeping.
iv. Supports the President and Vice President in coordinating
council activities.

12. Class Curators 1 & 2:


i. Elected representatives from each class.
ii. Serve as class prefects, maintaining discipline and order
within their respective classes.
iii. Gather feedback from classmates and bring concerns to
council meetings.
iv. Collaborate with class managers to ensure a peaceful and
conducive learning environment.
13. Resident Students Ambassador 1&2
i. Must be in SS3 or SS2 (Male and female)
ii. Heads the boarding students
iii. Works closely with the boarding parents
v. Represents the boarding students in the school council
vi. Ensures Prep is effective

Additional Features:
1. Swearing-In Ceremony: Elected leaders take an oath of
office in a formal ceremony witnessed by students, teachers,
and parents.
2. Leadership Training and Workshops: Regular sessions to
develop leadership skills, teamwork, communication, and
problem-solving.
3. Courtesy Calls: Visits to political leaders to enhance
students' understanding of governance and leadership.
4. Pet Project: Each successive council initiates a project
aimed at improving the school or community.
5. Bank Account and Constitution: Council manages a bank
account for funds, and a constitution outlines the council's
structure and processes.
6. Mantra and Anthem: EMHSC adopts a motivating mantra
and anthem that resonate with the student body.
7. Supervision and Support: Educators, matrons, and
patrons provide guidance and mentorship to the council
members.
