means a base unit of length and it has a prefix
"Conti" meaning "a hundredth. So “centimeter”

The root word of hydrophobia is "phobia" which


mean "fear" and it has a prefix "Hydro" means
"water" so hydrophobia means "fear of water”

So did you get the concepts of knowing the


importance of getting the roots word in inferring
the borrowed words? Yes! Ma’am

The ideal way to use root words is to produce


multiple words based on the same root. Also, you
can use the root word to infer the meaning of the
word.
Example the word “phobia” the root word phobia
means having a fear so we will going to use it in
multiple times we have a:

Acrophobia – has a prefix “acro” means heights


- So acrophobia means fear of heights
Androphobia – ha a prefix “andro” which means
male
- So meaning androphobia is fear of
men
Technophobia – has a prefix “techno” which
means technology
- So technophobia is fear of
technology

Since we are talking about the root word phobia,


are there something that you have fear about?

You know class having a phobia is one of the


mental illness that we can experience. So my
question is are we going to criticize the people
having this mental illness? No Ma’am
