Class did you understand what is
earthquake?

So when we talk about earthquake, you

always heard
The word magnitude and intensity.
Example magnitude is the amount energy
release by an earthquake.

So when we talk about earthquake you intensity is the extent of damage cause by
always heard an earthquake.
The word magnitude,intensity.

What is the different of magnitude and

intensity?

Example magnitude is the amount energy

release by an earthquake.

Did you understand what is magnitude?

intensity is the extent of damage cause by an

earthquake.
Seismograph
Again class what is the intensity?

Did you understand what is intensity? Epicenter is the point on the earth surface
located directly above the focus of an
earthquake.
Scientist have invented a device that
measures the earth surface this is
seismograph

Seismograph can detect and record the

vibration on the earth surface.

Again, class what device that measures

vibration on the earth?

Epicenter is the point on the earth surface

located directly above the focus of an
earthquake.
Again what is the Epic center?

Okay, before we proceed to our activity, Lets

disscuss about on what to do before, during,
and after.

Before:

1. Let you and your family talk about

emergency preparedness plan during
earthquake. Such plan should include
where to go or hide an earthquake
happens
2. Practice earthquake drills or exercise
on what to do when earthquakes
strikes your place. Do it at home.
3. Help your parents fix your house.
Hanging objects should be fixed well
enough to prevent them from falling
when earthquake strike.

appliances. The tremor may cause
gas leak that might result fire. Heavy
pieces furniture or equipment might
fall and hit you.
2. If you are at the beach or seashore,
move to a higher place. Giant sea
waves may develop and flood the
area and wash away everything back
sea.
3. If you are indoor during an
earthquake, drop down to the floor.
Take cover under a sturdy table or
other piece of furniture that can
protect you from falling objects.

After:

1. Check for dangerous materials. For

example damaged electrical wire may
cause fire and death.
2. Clean the areas where harmful
chemicals may have been spilled
when shaken because of the
earthquake, this may endanger your
life when mixed with the food that you
eat
3. Check for injuries. Ask for help from
the persons or agencies in your
emergency list if you or someone in
your family is injured.
