and specialized "in use" applications. The size designation of the drill W4”
34:”, 1/2") refers to the maximum diameter drill bit or accessory/attachment
shank that will be accepted by the chucll of the drill. However, while chuck
capacity is often the most apparent difference between pistol grip drills of all DRILLS
sizes, it is by no means the only difference. As the chuck size increases on

adequate power for intermittent light duty drilling in
masonry and metals. Because of the higher speed a 1/4"
drill is also an especially good choice if it is to be used
frequently with sanding, polishing or buffing accessories.

satility in that it is capable of heavier duty work, such as
drilling larger hole diameters and prolonged use in metals
and masonry. Further, it will drive all the accessorlesl
attachments of a 1/4" drill, including sanding, polishing and
buffing (although at slower speeds). when used with most
other accessories/attachments a %” drill delivers more
efficient performance.
CIRCULAR SAWS

large size hole saws a 1A” drill is recommended. A #2” drill is a good choice
for the service tradesmen or for continuous heavier duty use in the home.

variable speed models allow added versatility in that they
allow matching a speed to the job at hand. Two speed
models offer a high speed for use in wood, compositions BENCH GRINDERS
or soft metals while a slower speed enables greater effi-
ciency and performance in hardwoods, masonry and most
other metals. Variable speed units allow the user to infinitely vary the speed
of the tool from 0 to maximum speed at will —a decided advantage in driving

surfaces or other materials previously "undrillable" with single speed units.
