Assignment : Research about the Barriers of Communication

What is Communication Barriers ?

According to Dr. Suruj Kumar Debnath, defined, “Barriers to communication mean


obstacles to the process of communication.
In the opinion of Louise E. Boone and Others, “Communication barriers are the
problems that arise at every stage of the communication process and have the
potential to create misunderstanding and confusion.
According to C. B. Mamoria, “Communication, when it is impeded and does not
reach the receiver is often somewhat ineffective and the impediments are known
as barriers.”
Communication barriers are the factors that inhibit the effective flow of information
that communication barriers are the factors that inhibit the effective flow of
information in the process of communication. Communication barriers impede the
flow of information or create problems in understanding and acceptance of
Communication .

Communication barriers can arise by these following example :Language


Barriers:Example: Imagine you’re traveling in a foreign country where you don’t
speak the local language fluently. Asking for directions or ordering food at a restaurant
might become quite challenging.Cultural Differences:Example: In some cultures, direct
eye contact is considered a sign of confidence and honesty, while in others, it might be
seen as disrespectful or confrontational.Emotional Barriers:Example: If someone is
feeling stressed or upset, they might have difficulty expressing their thoughts clearly or
understanding others’ messages accurately.Physical Barriers:Example: Trying to have a
conversation in a noisy environment, such as at a concert or construction site, can make
it hard to hear and understand each other.Technological Barriers:Example: During a
video call, poor internet connection might cause lag, freezing, or distorted audio, making
it hard to maintain a smooth conversation. All of these example is relatable to me , like
language differences , when some foreigner ask me for directions ,and eventually I’m try
to hard to speak and instruct what to response on her questions that sometimes I only
use body gestures to give. A sign to that directions . These barriers are crates problems
on understanding in any situation.
Overcoming these barriers often requires patience, empathy, and effective
communication strategies, such as active listening, seeking clarification, and being
mindful of non-verbal cues.
