In Science 9, we explored a variety of topics that deepened our understanding of the natural world. We studied
biology by focusing on DNA, mitosis, and meiosis, learning how cells are derived from other cells. We also
examined how the arrangement of electrons in atoms influences their chemical properties, and we learned how
to form and name covalent and ionic compounds. In physics, we looked at electric current and how it flows,
investigating series and parallel circuits and applying Ohm's law. We explored the interconnectedness of the
biosphere, focusing on how matter cycles and energy flows through both abiotic and biotic systems, and we
studied different biotic relationships. To wrap up, we engaged in an inquiry project on Earth's biomes. We
explored all topics through various methods such as independent and collaborative research, laboratories,
discussions, in-class activities, technology tools, and collaborative lessons to practice our note-taking skills.

Felix draws sophisticated conclusions that not only align with the evidence but also consider alternative
explanations and broader scientific principles. He demonstrates an advanced ability to synthesize information
from multiple sources. Collaborates effectively with peers to develop solutions to relevant issues, demonstrating a
solid understanding of individual and collective responsibility. In terms of inquiry based learning, Felix creatively
adapts learned concepts in innovative ways, showing a high level of understanding. Felix, it was a pleasure to have
you in class and I wish you all the best in your learning for Semester 2!

Socials 9 students this semester explored key historical events including colonization in Canada, Indigenous
perspectives, and the impacts of the American and French Revolutions while developing critical thinking and
analysis skills. Felix has exceeded expectations in Social Studies with his strong analytical skills and thoughtful
contributions to discussions. As one of the top students in our class his work has been truly commendable. Well
done Felix!

In this semester, students learned the basic theory of website design and applied the skills to finish various
projects.

Areas of Strength:Felix demonstrates a good understanding of the learning material covered in class.
Opportunities for Growth: Felix could benefit from more consistent effort in following project instructions to
organize the layout of his own website. While he has shown some creativity, he would gain valuable experience by
closely reading other well-designed websites to learn how to better structure and present information.
Developing these organizational skills will serve him well as he continues to build his web development abilities.

For the rest of the semester, we focused on identifying various literary devices in short stories, including
foreshadowing, similes, metaphors, personification, and onomatopoeia. Additionally, we reviewed punctuation
rules and addressed common sentence errors, such as run-on sentences, fragments, and comma splices.
Students also completed a presentation on a short story where they summarized the story and made meaningful
connections to their personal experiences, other texts, and the world around them. Felix has made excellent
progress in developing their English language skills this semester. I am pleased with the effort and attitude put
into the course. Felix can write to express ideas and use a variety of academic and subject-specific vocabulary in a
structured multi-paragraph composition. Additionally, Felix delivered a well-organized presentation,
demonstrating a good understanding of the short story through thoughtful and meaningful connections. It was
an absolute pleasure teaching Felix this semester. Promotion to the next ELL level will be dependent on successful
completion of the school year and the spring assessment.
