Job satisfaction is the main variable that must be considered in managing

human resource practices. Job satisfaction

discusses the extent to which employees are satisfied or dissatisfied with

their jobs are caused by several factors that

motivate them. This study aims to dig deeper into job satisfaction
variable. In achieving this goal, the researchers used

a systematic review using PRISMA method and bibliometric analysis

techniques which took journals from Science

Direct and Emerald during 2017-2022. The results of the screening on the
PRISMA method produced 30 (thirty)

articles written by 95 (ninety five) authors. Based on the 30 (thirty)

articles collected, the results of this study found that

there are 4 (four) categories that explain several variables that related to
job satisfaction, including leadership, salary,

organizational commitment, and job stress. Overall, the research is

expected to be the right reference for further research,
especially researchers who will examine titles that related to job
satisfaction.

Sciences, Bugema University

When an employee is satisfied with the job, then such an employee will
be more productive and creative and is more likely to be retained by the
organization. Some job satisfaction theoretical frameworks and models
are available to that effect namely; Herzbergs’ Two Factor Theory, Adams
Equity Theory, and Job Characteristic Theory among others. We find that
all the above models have been widely employed in the study of job
satisfaction studies. We notably argue that Smerek and Petersons’ Model
can be included on the list of job satisfaction models. Hence based on a
thorough review of Smerek and Petersons’ model, research hypotheses
were derived to guide further studies on the factors related to job
satisfaction and a review of the literature was conducted on these
identified research hypotheses

The most dynamic and important are the human resources in an

organization and they need to be properly motivated. The reason behind
motivation is that it leads to job satisfaction which in turn helps in
employee engagement and reducing turnover in an organization. Bringing
satisfaction at the work place and satisfying the employees is not an easy
task for the organization. Identification and removal of the job satisfying
and dissatisfying factors respectively is crucial and important for the
employer. Thus, providing job satisfaction is a hard task for the
organization to do. Job satisfaction as a topic of research is much-
discussed and many researchers and experts’ have tried and identified
various factors which belief directly effects work productivity, employee
turnover and employee retention. McNamara has defined job satisfaction
as: “…………. one’s feelings or state of mind regarding the nature of their
work. Job satisfaction can be influenced by a variety of factors, e.g., the
quality of one’s relationship, the quality of the physical environment in
which they work, the degree of their work etc” [1]. The present
investigation is carried out to highlight some of the research work done
in this area and find out the determinants of the job satisfaction and its
importance at the work place. Keywords: Human resources, job
satisfaction, motivation, dissatisfying factors.

Job satisfaction represents one of the most complex areas facing today’s
managers when it comes to managing their employees. Many studies have
demonstrated an unusually large impact on the job satisfaction on the
motivation of workers, while the level of motivation has an impact on
productivity, and hence also on performance of business
organizations.Unfortunately, in our region, job satisfaction has not still
received the proper attention from neither scholars nor managers of
various business organizations.

articles, related research paper, theses, or organizational reports. The
author had reviewed almost 16 research articles, research papers, theses,
or organizational reports with a view to understand the job satisfaction of
the academicians and Industrial employees from previous studies all over
the world. The study reveals that the employee job satisfaction and
contentment is very crucial aspects for organizational development,
employee productivity, employee commitment, quality of work and many
more aspects. It is observed that a significant amount of research work
has been carried out on the area of job satisfaction with several
dimensions of it including varied types of issues.

The factors of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the

recommendations given by the researchers in seventy recruited research
studies, which have been conducted for literature review of teachers’ job
satisfaction in developing countries. The recruited studies were conducted
across 21 countries in Asia and Africa, but the majority of them were in
Iran, India, Turkey, Pakistan, China and Malaysia. The main purpose of
the study was to explore the various relevant factors and, based on them,
give recommendations and solutions for the enhancement of the jobs of
teachers who work in educational institutions in developing countries.
Included in this study were 61 quantitative, two qualitative, and seven
mixed research papers. Conducive working conditions, promotional
opportunities, fair remuneration, support from headteachers, colleagues
and the community, teacher empowerment, and friendships were found to
be the major factors affecting the job satisfaction of teachers. An
autocratic management style, mistrust, a non-transparent system, a work-
life imbalance, an ineffective teaching/learning environment, and
unavailability of resources were found to be the main factors affecting job
dissatisfaction.
