Question 1: match the machine parts to their functions.

Lubricating system cam Sinker motor

VDQ Needle detectors fan plastic tube

Cam box cylinder Feeder guide Toothed belt

positive feeder cone holder needle fabric spreader

1 to change the circular to flat shape of fabric.

2 to produce the motion to the machine.

3 to identify the needle breakage.

4 remove dust, hairy fiber as well as keep needle cool.

5 to pass the yarn through it.

6 to hold the package.

7 provides uniform tension to yarn and remove yarn knot

8 control the GSM.

9 hold the cam.

10 to feed the yarn to needle.

11 is the master part of the knitting machine.

12 drum which contains slots to hold the needle.

13 is a thin metal plate which is placed at right angle between the adjoining needles

14 to transfer the motion from VDQ pulley to positive feeder.

15 supplies lubricants to the cam box, sinkers box to remove excessive friction and heat.

converts the rotary machine drive into suitable reciprocating action for the needles or other

Question 2: Mention the functions of the following machine parts

Positive feeder
1-

Needle cam
2-

VDQ (variable
3-
diameter for quality)

Question 3: Match the following:

Total no. of needles in a machine A- Number of needles per 1 inch.
1 No of courses determines B- no. of needles in machine
2 Stitch length C- n x feeders x total no. of needles.
3 Number of wales determines D- the length of fabrics
4 No. of courses in 1 machine revolution = E- Total no. of loops in 1 course x Loop length
5 Total no. of loops for n rev = F- Length of yarn in loop
6 No. of loops in course = G- number of feeders
7 Course length= H- the width of fabric
Gauge I- 3.142 x machine cylinder diameter x gauge

Question 4: Solve the following problems

1- A knitting machine is running at a speed of 30 rpm with 36 feeders. Calculate the total no. of courses
produced in 1 hr.

2- Find out the total number of needles in a machine having cylinder diameter of 24” and 28gauge.

3- Find the approximate circumference of fabric and WPI in a knitted fabric having 22 gauge, 28 inch
diameter (assume fabric shrinkage is 30%)
