Opening Files and Folders

 Double-Click: The most common way to open a file or folder is by


double-clicking on it with your mouse's left button. This works for
most file types and folders.

 Right-Click Menu: Right-click the file or folder. In the context


menu, choose "Open." You might also see a list of programs you can
open the file with.

 Keyboard Shortcut: Select the file or folder and press Enter or


Return on your keyboard.

 From Within an Application: Many applications let you open files


directly. For example, in Microsoft Word, you can go to "File" >
"Open" to browse for and open a document.

Moving Files and Folders

A. Using the "Send To" Command

1. Double-click on Computer/This PC to open it up.

2. Right-click the file or folder you want to move.

3. Select Send to, then choose where you want to send it. The options
like compressing it creating a shortcut on your desktop, sending it to
a USB drive or send an e-mail message

B. Using the Right-Click Menu

1. Click/double-click Computer/This PC.

2. Click/double-click Documents.

3. Right-click the document you want to move and select Cut.

4. Right-click in the place you want to move it and select Paste.

C. Using Drag and Drop

1. Double-click on Computer/This PC.

2. Navigate to the folder where the file is located.

3. Click and drag the file or folder to the new location.

Copying Files and Folders


 Drag and Drop (with Ctrl): Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging
and dropping to create a copy instead of moving.

 Copy and Paste:

1. Right-click the file or folder and select "Copy" (or use the Ctrl
+ C shortcut).

2. Go to the destination folder.

3. Right-click and select "Paste" (or use the Ctrl + V shortcut).

 Right-Click Menu: Right-click and choose "Copy," then navigate to


the destination folder, right-click, and choose "Paste."

Deleting Files and Folders

A. Using a Shortcut on the Desktop

1. Right-click on the file or folder's shortcut icon on your desktop.

2. Select Delete from the menu that pops up.

3. Alternatively, you can left-click the shortcut icon and simply press
the Delete key on your keyboard.

B. Using Computer/This PC

1. Double-click on Computer or This PC to open it.

2. Click on the drive or folder where the file you want to delete is
located.

3. Right-click the file or folder you want to delete.

4. Select Delete from the menu. You can also drag the file or folder to
the Recycle Bin.

C. Using the Search Command

1. Search for the file or folder you want to delete using the search bar.

2. Right-click on the file or folder in the search results.

3. Select Delete.
