number, say 13, in his/ her hand, to come up to the front of the class.
The child should then find his / her number neighbours and invite them to ome and stand before
and after him / her. So he or she would need to call children who have 12 and 14 in their hands
to come up to the front of the class and join him / her in their correct Positions.
Extend the activity by picking 2 children and asking them to compare the numbers.
The child with the greater number can put up his hand.

Activity 2:
Students are familiar with the numbers upto 10 both in terms of value and symbol.
Show the students 1 bundle of ten sticks and let them identify it as a ten
Then add one more loose stick and say that this 10 and one more which is eleven.
Reinforce this only with concrete objects and language without introducing symbol at this stage
Do this upto 19. Only then introduce the symbols for the numbers 11 to19.
