26. Compute the zeroes of the polynomial 4x – 4x – 8. Also, establish a relationship between the zeroes and
coefficients.

28. A lending library has a fixed charge for the first three days and additional charge for each day thereafter.
Saritha paid Rs.27 for a book kept for seven days, while Susy paid Rs.21 for the book she kept for five days.
Find the fixed charge and the charge for each extra days.
OR
One-fourth of a herd of camels was seen in the forest. Twice the square root of the herd had gone to
mountains and the remaining 15 camels were seen on the bank of a river. Find the total number of camels.
29. Find the area of the shaded region in figure, where arcs drawn with centres A, B, C and D intersect in pairs
at mid-points P, Q, R, and S of the sides AB, BC, CD and DA, respectively of a square ABCD.

32. A train covered a certain distance at a uniform speed. If the train would have been 6 km/h faster, it would
have taken 4 hours less than the scheduled time. And, if the train were slower by 6 km/h, it would have
taken 6 hours more than the scheduled time. Find the length of the journey.

If (1, 2), (4, y), (x, 6) and (3, 5) are the vertices of a parallelogram taken in order, find x and y.
33. As observed from the top of a 100 m high light house from the sea-level, the angles of depression of two
ships are 30° and 45°. If one ship is exactly behind the other on the same side of the light house, find the
distance between the two ships. [Use = 1.732] (5 Marks)
34. A toy is the shape of a right circular cylinder with a hemisphere on one end and a cone on the other. The
height and radius of the cylindrical part are 13 cm and 5 cm respectively. The radii of the hemispherical and
conical parts are the same as that of the cylindrical part. Calculate the surface area of the toy if the height of
the conical part is 12 cm.
OR
A solid toy is the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right circular cone. The height of the cone is 4cm
and the diameter of the base is 8cm. Determine the volume of the toy. If a cube circumscribes the toy, then
find the difference of the volumes of cube and the toy. Also, find the total surface area of the toy.
35. The following is the cumulative frequency distribution (of less than type) of 1000 persons each of age 20
years and above. Determine the means age.

36. To enhance the reading skills of grade X students, the school nominates you and two of your friends to set
up a class library. There are two sections-section A and section B of grade X. There are 32 students in
section A and 36 students in section B.

(a) What is the minimum number of books you will acquire for the class library, so that they can be
distributed equally among students of Section A or Section B? (1 Mark)
(b) Show that 7  11  13  15  15 is a composite. (1 Mark)

37. In order to conduct Sports Day activities in your School, lines have been drawn with chalk powder at a
distance of 1m each, in a rectangular shaped ground ABCD, 100 flower pots have been placed at a distance
of 1m from each other along AD, as shown in given figure below. Niharika runs 1/4 th the distance AD on
the 2nd line and posts a green flag. Preet runs 1/5th distance AD on the eighth line and posts a red flag.

(a) Find the position of the green flag. (1 Mark)


(b) What is the distance both flags? (1 Mark)
(c) If Rashmi has to post a blue flag exactly halfways between the line segment joining the two flags,
where should she post her flag? (2 Marks)
38. Your elder brother wants to buy a car and plans to take a loan from a bank for his car. He repays his total
loan of Rs.1,1800 by paying every month starting with the first installment of Rs.1000. If he increases the
installment by Rs.100 every month, answer the following:

(a) The amount paid by him in 30th installment is (1 Mark)


(b) If the total installments are 40 then the amount paid in the last installment? (2 Marks)
(c) The ratio of the 1st installment to the last installment is (1 Marks)
