QUESTION 1:
The charts below give information on the ages of the populations of
Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050.
Note:
Yemen: 2000 -> highest proportion was 0-14 (50,1%), smallest
proportion was 60+ (3,6%)
2050 -> highest proportion is 15-59 (57,3%), smallest
proportion is 60+ (5,7%)
Italy: 2000 -> highest proportion was 15-59 (61,6%) smallest
proportion was 0-14 (14,3%)
2050 -> highest proportion is 15-59 (46,2%), smallest
proportion is 0-14 (11,5%)
ANSWER:
The pie charts declinate the populations of Yemen and Italy based on
three age groups in two years 2000 and 2005.
Overall, the 0-14 age group held the largest rate in Yemen’s population in
2004, while the highest proportion of people in Italy was the 15-59 age bracket.
It is predicted that both countries will witness an increase in the percentage of
elderly people.
In the year 2000, over a half of the population in Yemen was under 14
aged children, whereas in Italy this age group only held the rate of 14,3 %. In
contrast, over 60% of citizens in Italy fell into the 15-59 age group, compared to
roughly 46% of Yemen. Similarly, in Yemen, the elderly people in Italy
accounted for a higher proportion in population structure than that of Yemen,
with 24,1% and 3,6% respectively.
In the year 2050, the forecast shows that there will be an aging population
in both Yemen and Italy. The 15 to 59 year- old age bracket tends to rise to
about 57%, while Italy will have a significant fall to just 46%. Additionally,
2050 will witness a decline in the percentage of people who were aged under 14
in Yemen and Italy, to 37% and 11,5 % respectively. It is predicted that Yemen
and Italy both experience an increase of 2,1% and 18,2% in over 60 aged
people.

QUESTION 2:
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The pie graphs below show the result of a survey of children's
activities. The first graph shows the cultural and leisure activities that boys
participate in, whereas the second graph shows the activities in which the girls
participate.
Write a report describing the information shown in the two pie graphs.
Write at least 150 words.
Overall:
Boys: sports and gaming activities
Girls: indoor activities.
The same in listening to music: 10%
The same percentage in skateboarding (boys)= gymnastics (girls): 11%
Boys: Most preferable activities: computer games (34%)
Second: basketball
Least preferable activities: reading (2%)
Girls: Most preferable activities: dancing (27%)
Second: reading (21%) => computer games (16%)=> netball (15%)
Least preferable : listening to music (10%)
SYNONYMS:
enumerate = illustrate = delineate
leisure = free-time
The two pie charts delineate teenagers’ responses to a survey about
culture and free-time activities, with a further classification by gender.
Overall, boys show their preference for gaming and sports-related
activities, whereas girls were interested in indoor activities. Additionally, there
are some differences in terms of activity and its proportion, except for listening
to music.
With regard to boys’ activities, more than one-third boys play computer
games, which was noticeable higher than basketball with over a quarter. Boys
playing soccer accounted for 17%, followed by skateboarding with around 10%.
A mere 2% have the habit of reading, which was the least popular cultural
activity among boys.
Look at the second pie chart in detail, the most preferable activity is
dancing, being 27 % in total. In contrast to the boys’ interest, reading is chosen
by above 20% of girls. In addition, computer games take the third position in
girls’ choices with 16%, which is nearly a half that of boys. Netball and
gymnastics are less popular activities, chosen by 15% and 11% respectively.
Interestingly, listening to music takes the bottom at 10%, which is equal to that
of boys.
QUESTION 3:
The charts below show the percentage of water used for different
purposes in six areas of the world.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features
and make comparisons where relevant.
Note:
No change in time => simple present
Different purposes (industrial use, agriculture use, domestic use)
Introduction: water use = water consumption
different purposes = three main purposes
six areas = different regions, places
Overall:
Most water in North America and Europe is for industrial use #
others areas is cater for agriculture
Domestic demand for water is lowest, except for Africa.
Body 1: North America, Europe
Body 2: 4 other regions
ANSWER:
The pie charts compare water consumption for three main purposes
(industrial use, agricultural use, domestic use) in six regions in the world.
Overall, most water in North America and Europe is used for industrial
purposes, while the main reason for consuming water in other areas is to cater
for agriculture. The amount of water consumed for domestic demand takes the
bottom, except for Africa.
Regarding North America and Europe, about a half of water consumption
in both areas is for industry, taking up 48% and 53% respectively. Both record
higher proportions of water utilized in agriculture, with the former tripling and
doubling the latter in North America and Europe respectively.
Most water in the other regions is for irrigation, with the highest figure
belonging to Central Asia, at 88%. The percentages of water for domestic use
are usually larger than the figures for industry, with its gap ranging from 2% in
Africa and Central Asia to 9% in South America. Water consumption in South
East Asia, however, shows the opposite pattern, at 12% for industry and only
7% for domestic use.
