Past Habits vs.

Past Actions in Progress

What’s the Difference?

1. Used to
- Describes something you did many times in the past but don’t do anymore.
- Example:
- I used to play with toys every day. (This means you did it a lot in the past, but now you
don’t.)

2. Past Continuous
- Describes an action that was happening at a specific moment in the past.
- Example:
- I was playing with toys when my mom called me. (This means you were doing it at that
exact time.)

How to Use Them?

Used to Past Continuous
Subject + used to + base verb Subject + was/were + verb + -ing
Example: I used to swim. Example: I was swimming.
