A Snowflake Falls © Ruth Adams

Snowflake /
One night I saw a snowflake fall.
past/
Past memories it did recall.
memories/
And as the snow fell to the ground, recall/
So quietly without a sound, ground/
quietly/
I watched until a blanket made,
blanket/
To glistening white - brown earth did fade.
glistering/
An untouched cover until the dawn. fade/
The sun arose; it was soon gone. untouched//
cover/
I thought of friendships in the past.
dawn/
Seemed perfect though they did not last.
last/
And family ties once meant so much, ties/
Now rarely do we keep in touch. meant/
rarely/
So quickly life can take a turn,
turn/
Yet slowly we do seem to learn.
change/
So many things in life can change rearranged/
And suddenly be rearranged. slumber/
granted/
In our slumber while we do sleep,
blessings/
For granted blessings thought to keep,
morn/
For same as night does turn to morn, torn/
An untouched blanket can get torn, overlooked/
ignored/
The things that we have overlooked,
rejected/
Ignored, rejected or mistook,
mistook/
As melted snow does turn to slush, melted/
Relationships can turn to dust. slush/
dust//
So this year for the holiday,
take for granted/
Praise God for blessings given today.
remain/
Don't take for granted they'll remain, unlike/
That life forever will be the same. keep in touch/
stay around/
Let's be the most that we can be,
For all our friends and family.
Unlike the snowflake on the ground,
Let's keep in touch and stay around.
