GRP6_3947_EXP10

The document outlines a group project focused on determining the roughness coefficient in an open channel, detailing each member's roles and contributions. It includes data collected during the experiment, such as channel dimensions, mean velocity, and roughness coefficients for different sections. The methodology describes the process of measuring water flow and time taken for a float to traverse the channel, with results computed for various parameters.

IV. DOCUMENTATION

FIRST, THE STUDENTS SWITCHED ON THE MOBILE BED APPARATUS AND ALLOWED WATER TO FLOW
IN THE CHANNEL UNTIL IT IS APPROXIMATELY CONSTANT.
STUDENTS THEN MEASURED THE WIDTH AND THE DEPTH OF THE CHANNEL. THE INCLINATION OF
THE CHANNEL BED WAS GIVEN BY THE INSTRUCTOR SINCE IT IS HORIZONTAL.

STUDENTS LET A FLOAT TRAVERSE A UNIT LENGTH (1 METER) OF THE CHANNEL THROUGH EACH OF
THE SECTIONS AND MEASURE THE TIME IT TAKES FOR THE FLOAT TO MOVE FROM ONE END TO THE
OTHER. THIS WAS REPEATED UNTIL THREE TRIALS (LEFT BANK SECTION, MIDDLE SECTION, AND
RIGHT BANK SECTION).
