20. If the temperature of a liquid can be measured in Kelvin units as 𝑥°K or in Fahrenheit units as
𝑦°𝐹, the relation between the two system of measurement of temperature is given by the linear

equations 𝑦 = 5 (𝑥 − 273) = 32
i) Find the temperature of the liquid in Fahrenheit if the temperature of the liquid is 313°𝐾.
ii) If the temperature is 158°𝐹, then find the temperature in kelvin.
21. Prove that every line segment has one and only one mid-point.
22. The perimeter of a triangle is 50cm. One side of a triangle is 4 cm longer than the smaller side
and the third is 6cm less than twice the smaller side. Find the area of the triangle.

CASE STUDY I On his birthday, Manoj planned that this time he celebrates his birthday in a small
orphanage centre. He bought apples to give to children and adults working there. Manoj donated 2
apples to each children and 3 apples to each adult working there along with
birthday cake. He distributed 60 total apples.

(a) How to represent the above situation in linear equations in two variables
by taking the number of children as 'x' and the number of adults as 'y'?

CASE STUDY 2 A craft mela is organized by Welfare Association to promote the art and culture for

tribal people. Fairs and festivals are the custodians of our great cultural heritage. The pandal is to be

decorated by using triangular flags around the field. Each flag has dimensions 25 cm, 25 cm and 22

cm.

i) What is the area of the flag? (Use √14 ≅ 3.74)

ii) Find the area of cloth required for making 300 such flags in 𝑚2

iii) If the rate of the cloth is ₹ 200 per 𝑚2, find the total cost of 300 flags.

iv) Find the area of cloth required for making 1500 such flags in 𝑐𝑚2.
