SECTION H – BILL OF QUANTITY

Notes for Bill of Quantities

1. Details of the items under this BOQ shall be read in conjunction with the corresponding technical
specification, drawings and other bidder documents.
2. The work shall be carried out as per drawings, specification, the description of the items in this BOQ,
and/or as per the instructions of Contractor’s engineer.
3. Items of work provided in this BOQ but not covered in the specifications shall be executed strictly as per
the instructions of Contractor’s engineer.
4. The decision of Contractor’s engineer shall be final and binding on the Subcontractor regarding
clarification of items in this BOQ with respect to the other sections of the Contract.
5. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, In the Contract the rates are quoted for the finished items and
shall provide for the complete cost of all material, labour, erection and dismantling of necessary
scaffolding, levies, taxes, all transport, storage, repairs, rectifications, maintenance until handing over,
revenue expenses, contingencies, overheads, profits and all incidental items not specifically mentioned
but reasonably implied and necessary to complete the work according to the Contract.
6. Items for which quantities shall be reckoned by weight, such as fabricating and installing of steel
structure work, etc, shall be calculated exclusive of the weight of welding materials (welding rods) for
purpose of payment.
7. The Subcontractor shall execute the works as per drawings and relevant technical specifications issued
by Contractor, if any, carry out necessary tests as required by Contractor’s engineer, the cost for these
tests shall be deemed included herein.
8. The rates quoted by Subcontractor are all inclusive, firm and final and not liable to any change under
any condition including factors like market change and policy adjustment during implementation of
Contract.
9. All constructional materials including structural materials and auxiliary materials shall be supplied with
quality certificate and get the prior approval of Contractor’s engineer.
10. Qualified welder shall be assigned to work on items in accordance with requirement of welding of the
same.
11. Corrosion preventive treatment of all steel structure work, in this Contract, is deemed included in the
respective item of steel work itself and shall not be measured and paid separately, Therefore, the
relevant rates shall include the cost for corrosion preventive treatment as the case may be,
requirements of various painting /coating as applicable are specified for different items of steel works,
Depending upon location and requirement on protection with respect to items.
12. The type of welding rod required for the items must accord with the relevant design construction and
acceptance code, and also in according with the India code. The Subcontractor shall get the prior
approval of the Contractor for the use of welding rod in the Works.
13. Painting or galvanizing (including surface preparation, priming, etc.) of all structural and miscellaneous
steel items, in this contract, is deemed to be included in the respective item of the BOQ and is not
measured and paid separately. Therefore, All structural and miscellaneous steel items should include

the cost for painting or galvanizing as the case may be. Various painting /coating systems are specified
for different items of steel works, depending upon the item location and protection required.
14. The rates quoted by Subcontractor shall be the total of all costs arisen from construction and
maintenance. Also include the following:
1) Any other activity / facility / input required in connection with the execution of Work.
2) All kind of erecting tools, lifting tackles and cranes with skilled operators.
3) All scaffoldings, shoring, cantering, shuttering, ladders, platforms, jigs, fixtures, temporary
supports and material handling facilities.
4) Clearance of Site, housekeeping during construction and final cleaning at the time of handing
over.
5) Scheme during monsoon and the cost.
6) All costs including construction, commissioning, test, inspection, equipment unloading\
transportation\storage, defects treatment, temporary building and preparation, insurance
stipulated in contract, unpredictable risk, responsibility.
15. The tax and duty, such as entry tax, WCT and others except GST tax, should be included in
Subcontractor’s general quoted price and indicated separately.
16. In this schedule of items the following shall apply:
RM shall mean run or linear meter.
m2 shall mean square metre.
m3 shall mean cube metre
'mt' shall mean metric ton or one thousand kilograms.
Quintal shall mean one hundred kilograms.
Km shall mean kilometre.
Mm shall mean millimetres.
Item shall mean complete supply and installation of the particular item including all its associated
components and accessories.
