1.A. Marcus made an experiment about shadows as shown below.

Below is what he has learned. Complete the sentence by circling the correct answer.

A shadow figure is made when light is blocked by an opaque object. Sound Light
cannot pass through an opaque material. This means that a bright dark area is
made. This is a shadow. Shadows have no shape colour. They are always dark.
Shadows have no details like eyes or a mouth. The shadow may not be the same price
shape and size as the object.

1.B. Marcus measured the size of a shadow as he moved it towards a light source. He
recorded his results on the table below. Look at the table and answer the questions

Some materials are transparent. They let light through. Transparent materials do not
make a shadow. We can see things clearly through transparent materials.

Sometimes glass is frosted or patterned to make it translucent. The light is


scattered by translucent glass so it is harder to see through it. It is hard to read through
translucent materials. Translucent glass is useful when we don’t want people to see
clearly through the glass. We can also make shadows on translucent materials.
