Leadership
Leadership benefits every aspect of life gives greater confidence,
strengthens communication and negotiation skills and develop character.
It improves personal life and relationships.
The student can became a leader of his own life by setting goals for life
being fearless, honoring others, embracing new ideas and opportunities,
by questioning everything doing what is right not what is easy, finding
goodness and beauty in everyone and everything, by actively rejecting
pessimism, surrounding with mentors and teachers, caring people with
comparison and empathy.
Leadership is an integral part of human life. Leaders are evident in
families, in schools, in work places, in religious places, on social
groups and in one's own life. Indeed every one must be a leader of his
own life as he matures in to an adult and makes divisions for himself.
Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set
direction, build an inspiring vision and create something new. The
student can learn the leadership skills by taking initiative, inspiring
and motivating, by listening, by dealing with people conflicts practicing
and taking an opportunity of a leader role.
Problem solving & Decision making
Problem solving is an act of defining a problem, determining the cases of
the problem, identifying, prioritizing and selecting alternative
solutions and implementing a solution.
Decision making is a cognitive process resulting in the selection of a
belief or a course of action among several possible alternative options.
Success or failure in our life is personal, professional or social is the
results of decisions.
The important facts about decision making:
> Never take or stop decisions out of fear
> Tough decisions are necessary in tough times
> Let your decision be must not be based on what people may think but
based on what you think best for you
> Do not postpone decision making
> Do not let others to take your decision
> Success in life is the result of bold and courageous decisions taken at
the right time
> Decision leads to action and until a decision is made nothing happens
> Trust your instructs and take decisions
> Decision making in inevitable in life
> There is no right or wrong decisions
Problem Solving & Decision Making
Problems are common in human life. Some may be light and some serious.
Each problem has some solution. Some problems may have more than one
solution. Decision making is the choosing of right solution.
Students shall develop problem solving and decision making abilities
since school level. Then they can face serious problems with stability in
future. Otherwise even for simple problem you have to feel tension.
Decision making shall be done within the required time otherwise
additional problems may arise. The following steps are useful for
decision making.
Step 1Define the problem :First try to understand the problem.Step
2Collection of information:Get the information related to the
problem.Step 3Solution:Think about the possible solutionsStep 4Decision
making:Decide the best solution.Step 5Implementation:Implement the
decision timely based on the seriousness.

Practical: The teacher shall give small problems and get solution from
the students.

Emotion is an agitated or excited state of our mind and body. The twenty-
first century seems to be the most turbulent and chaotic for mankind.
Much of the student success will be determined by the effective
understanding of Emotions under conditions of extreme stress and change.
Our emotions play a quite a significant role in guiding and directing our
behaviour. Many times they seem to dominate us in such a way that we have
no solution other than behaving as they want us to. On the other hand, if
a person has no emotions in him, then he becomes crippled in terms of
living his life in a normal way. In this way, emotions play a key role in
providing a particular direction to our behaviour and thus shaping our
personality according to their development.
There are several negative effects on our career for eg., If you have
high anger, it effects your breathing, heart rate and blood circulation.
More over heart problem may occur at an early stage.
Career wise, you cannot be a successful team leader, loose good friends
and commit several mistakes in family life, ultimately bear disturbed
life.
Nature and Characteristics of Emotions
• Emotions are long term states
• Emotions can be any strong feeling
• Emotional experiences are associated with some instincts or biological
drives.
• Emotions are the product of perception.
• The core of an emotion is feeling.
• Emotions bring physiological/psychological changes.

Emotions and Health
People with good emotional health are aware of their thoughts, feelings
and behaviours. They have learned healthy ways to cope with the stress
and problems that are a normal part of life. They feel good about
themselves and have healthy relationships. When you are stressed, anxious
or upset, your body tries to tell you that something isn't right. The
following can be physical signs that your emotional health is out of
balance:
Back pain Change in appetite
Chest pain Constipation
Dry mouth Extreme tiredness General aches and pains Headaches
High blood pressure Insomnia
Light-headedness Palpitations
Sexual problems Shortness of breath
Stiff neck Sweating
Upset stomach Weight gain or loss Physiological Changes Accompanying
Emotions
When we are in the waves of positive or negative emotions, our behaviour
is totally controlled and directed by that emotion. During this period,
various types of internal or external changes occur in our body, which
may be briefly summarized as follows:
Internal bodily changes
* Functioning of our heart
* Blood circulation system
* Rate of respiration and breathing
* Digestive system
* Changes in the chemical composition of our blood like
(i) increase in the amount of adrenal
(ii) increase in the amount of sugar level
(iii) changes in the number and proportion of red corpuscles (f)
Normal body temperature fluctuates
(g) Changes in the secretion of the duct and ductless glands
(h) Changes in the electrical or galvanic skin responses
(i) Muscles of our body are hardened and get tensed

External bodily changes


• Changes in facial expressions
• Changes in body postures
• Change in voice or vocal expression
