This document provides the setup and installation procedures for USB drivers needed for
communication between the USB qNIC port on the SAI (Safe Area Interface) and qMWD-SAPC
(qMWD-Safe Area Personal Computer). If there are communication problems using the USB
cable, the following lists steps to install and verify the drivers are correctly installed.

WARNING: Exit ALL qMWD/W32 applications and make sure that the qW32 Server has
been closed BEFORE doing either of the following:

1. Unplugging the USB cable between the qMWD-SAPC and the SAI
2. Turning power off or on to the SAI. This is especially important when turning power
OFF.

1. Right click on My Computer as shown in the figure below. Select Properties.

To confirm that the all the procedure was successful, check the Device Manager to ensure that
the question marks have been removed. The sample on the left shows how the Device Manager
looks when the drivers are being installed and the one on the right shows how it should look like
after installation of the drivers for both USB ports. The user should also notice a new item under
Ports (High Speed Recorder-SPI Virtual COM Port (COM6)). The COM port number will differ
from PC to PC, depending on the hardware configuration.
