Assignment 3: Science Experiment Report

Experiment Report:
Title: How Different Liquids Affect Plant Growth

Introduction:
I chose this experiment because I wanted to see if plants could survive on other liquids
besides water. I was curious if sugary or acidic drinks would harm them.

Hypothesis:
I believe the plant watered with water will grow best, while the one with soda will grow the
least.

Materials:

 3 small plants (same type and size)

 Water

 Orange juice

 Soda

 Measuring cup

 Notebook for observations

Procedure:

1. Place each plant in a different pot and label them (Water, Juice, Soda).

2. Water each plant with 50ml of the assigned liquid every day.

3. Observe the plants daily and write down any changes in color, size, and overall
health.

Observations (Sample):

 Day 1: All plants look healthy.

 Day 3: Juice plant’s leaves are slightly yellowing.

 Day 5: Soda plant’s leaves are turning brown.

 Day 7: Water plant continues to grow, others look weaker.

 Day 10: Water plant is healthy, Juice plant is struggling, Soda plant is nearly dead.

Conclusion:
Water was the best liquid for plant growth. The juice and soda both harmed the plants,
probably because of the sugar and acid. This experiment shows that clean water is essential
for plants to survive.
