1 Hello, travelers1! I’m writing today to tell you about my amazing trip to Lake
Baikal in Russia. Before I got to the lake area, I thought it was just a cold, dark
place without many things to do. That wasn’t true at all! I’m so happy I went

there.
2 Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater2 lake in the world. In fact, the lake is
almost 1.5 times larger than Israel. I was there in the winter, so the lake was
frozen3. For the first time in my life, I walked on water! I also went in a special
boat that can travel on ice. The boat brought me to a big island in the middle of

the lake. Between 1,000 and 2,000 people live on this island.
3 The next day, I visited a very small village near the lake called Listvyanka.
The market there has vegetables, fruit and special stones from the lake, but more
than anything else, it has lots of fish. If you like to eat fish, you will never be
hungry in Listvyanka!

4 The trip in the lake area was quiet and relaxing4. I love traveling in nature
