A. A. Preliminary Activity

1. I. Opening Prayer
To start our day, everybody stands for our
opening prayer, are you ready to pray students?

Yes, we are!
In the name of the Father, of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit. Amen. In the name of the Father, of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our Father
Our Father who art in heaven, Our Father
hallowed be thy name. Our Father who art in heaven,
Thy kingdom come.
hallowed be thy name.
Thy will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven. Thy kingdom come.
Give us this day Thy will be done
our daily bread, on earth, as it is in heaven.
and forgive us our trespasses, Give us this day
as we forgive those who trespass against us, our daily bread,
and lead us not into temptation, and forgive us our trespasses,
but deliver us from evil. Amen
as we forgive those who trespass
II. Greetings against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
Good morning students! but deliver us from evil. Amen

Good morning Ma’am, good morning

You may now take your seat.
classmates. It’s nice to see you again.
III. Checking of Attendance
Is there any absentees for today?
Very Good! Give yourselves five claps. None Ma’am.
Before you take your seats kindly pick up the pieces
of papers or trashes under your chair and put in the
trashcans. Also, kindly arrange your chairs properly. Yes, Ma’am.

You may now take your seats.

IV. Review
Okay class, who can remember what was the last Thankyou, Ma’am.
topic discussed in your class?

Okay. Who can tell what did they learn about the
last topic?- Okay thank you. How about the others?
Very well said! Most of you remember the last topic
discussed Ma’am the topic last meeting is about
…. (student will share their knowledge
V. Warm Up Activity about the last topic discussed)
Answer the following:

The answer for the number 1 will be?

Very Good! How about number 2?

Can someone explain why is the answer will be OBTUSE TRIANGLE, Ma’am.
neither? Anyone?
NEITHER, Ma’am.

Very Good! Give 3 claps! It is because the given angle is 90

degree and it is neither less than or
Another question for number 3 is, what will the greater than, Ma’am.
answer be?

Nice Job!
How about the others?
For the number 4, what will the answer be? ACUTE TRIANGLE, Ma’am.

Exactly! Give 5 claps!

Next will be?
SSS Congruence, because all angles
Good! How about our number 6? are equals.

In number 7? ACUTE TRIANGLE, Ma’am.

Great! The next number will be? OBTUSE TRIANGLE, Ma’am.

Okay for the last two example will be? For the NEITHER, Ma’am.
number 9?
Okay, almost there! OBTUSE TRIANGLE, Ma’am.
And lastly? For the number 10?
OBTUSE TRIANGLE, Ma’am.

Very good! It seems that you really understand.

ACUTE TRIANGLE, Ma’am.

II. Development
A. Lesson Proper
Okay class. We will proceed to our main topic,
which is Solving Oblique Triangles

Can someone have an idea what an Oblique

Triangle?

Okay that’s right!

An oblique triangle is a triangle that does not contain
right angles.
Ma’am Oblique Triangle are triangle
This is how an oblique triangles looks like… with no right angles

An oblique triangle does not contain any 90 degree

angles. It can be acute or obtuse. Okay, Ma’am.

Now, in solving oblique triangles, Law of Sines and

Cosines are used.
Law of Sines
For any triangle ABC in which a, b, and c are the
lengths of the sides opposite the angles with
measures A, B, and C, respectively,

sin A sin B sin C

= =
a b c

*Two angles and one side (SAA Case & ASA Case)
*Two sides and an angle opposite of these sides are
given (SSA Case).

Illustrate Example 1: SAA Case

Find the missing parts of ∆ ABC on the right.
Given: two angles and one side.

˂A = 42˚
< C= 70˚
a=6

Solution:
Since side b and <B are not yet given, we can use
sin A sinC
the formula =
a c

sin A sinC
= Formula to use to solve for c.
a c

sin 42 ° sin 70 °
= Substitute the given value.
6 c

c sin 42 °=6 sin 70 ° Cross Multiply

0.6691 c=6 ( 0.9397 ) Compute for the values of sin 42 °
and sin 70 ° using a scientific calculator.

0.6691 c=5.6382 Simplify the resulting equation.

5,6382 Yes, Ma’am the value for side c will

c= Solve for c. be 8.43.
0.6691

c=8.43

To solve for side b, the formula to be used is

sin A sin B Yes, Ma’am.
= . Notice that <B is unknown. But recall
a b
the theorem of triangle that have learned in your
Grade 8 Mathematics that in any triangle, the sum of
the measures of the three angles is 180°
Using this concept,

¿ A+¿ B+¿ C=180 °

42° +¿ B+70 °=180 °
¿ B+112 °=180 °
¿ B=180 °−112 °
¿ B=68 °

Thus, we can now solve for side b,

Following the steps used earlier in solving for c, we
now have

sin A sin B
=
a b

sin 42 ° sin 68 °
= .
6 b
b sin 42°=6 sin 68°
0.6691 b=6 ( 0.9272 )
0.6691 b=5.5632
5.5632
b=
0.6691
b=8.31

Thus, the triangle with measures of its parts is

shown.

III.Engagement
-We’re done now in discussing how to solve oblique
triangles: The Law of Sines (SAA Case)
Try answering this on your seats, class.

a = 7 cm, ∠A = 60°, ∠B = 45°

I will only give you 10 minutes to solve.

find b? <A, <B and side c.

What are missing given in number 1?

(the students will answer the problem)
Yes thats right. Now who wants to solve for it.

Okay good job. Who got the same answers?

Excellent everyone.

.
IV.Assimilation
Ma’am an oblique triangle is a triangle
What is an oblique triangle? that has no right angles. It can contain
acute or obtuse angle.

What is the formula for Law of Sines? sin A sin B sin C

= =
a b c

When can we use the Law of sines? We can use Law of Sines when One
side and two angles are given (ASA
or AAS); Two sides and an angle
opposite of these sides are given
(SSA)
V. Activity

Direction: In a 1 whole sheet of paper. Solve the

given illustrative problem (45pts)

¿ A=43 °
¿ B=62 °
b=40

After 15 minutes, finish or not finish, I will collect

your papers.
