STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM


“Effectiveness of awareness program regarding early detection and
prevention of adolescents depression on knowledge among teachers in
selected higher secondary schools at udaipur, tripura ”

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY :-

1. To assess the pre-existing knowledge score regarding adolescence


depression among higher secondary school teachers in selected
schools ,Udaipur , Tripura.

2. To evaluate the effectiveness of awareness program regarding


early detection &prevention of adolescents depression on
knowledge among higher secondary schools teachers in selected
schools, udaipur south tripura”

3. To find out the association between the pretest knowledge score


regarding adolescence depression among higher secondary school
teachers with their selected demographic Variables.

HYPOTHESIS:-

H1: The mean post-test knowledge score is significantly higher than


the mean pre-test scores as measured by knowledge questionnaire
at 0.05 level of significance.

H2: There is a significant association between the pre-test


knowledge score with selected demographic variables at 0.05 level
of significance.

OPERATIONAL DEFINITION

EFFECTIVENESS:In this study it refers to the gain of post test


knowledge score after administration of awareness raising
programme regarding early detection & prevention of adolescents
depression.

AWARENESS PROGRAM:In this study,it refers to structured


education programme for 30-45 min on early detection & prevention
of adolescence depression.Itconsists of meaning,causes ,sign &
symptoms ,prevention and management with the help of
charts,flash card along with distribution of pamphlets.

EARLY DETECTION &PREVENTION:Early detection refers to the


first identification for possible presence of depressive symptoms and
prevention stands for the action taken to keep the adolescence to
avoid risk of getting depression

TEACHER:Higher secondary school teachers of both private &


government schools.

ADOLESCENTS DEPRESSION:In this study it refers to a mental


health disorder persistently low mood or loss of interest in activities
causing significant impairment in daily life among the age group of
10-19 years of children.

KNOWLEDGE:In this study it refers to the correct written responses


from higher secondary school teachers regarding early detection &
prevention of adolescent depression by structured knowledge
questionnaire.
