LYSOSOMES
Produced by the Rough endoplasmic reticulum(RER) and Golgi apparatus.
They are known as “suicide bags”
Contain hydrolytic enzymes called lysozyme that digests substances and worn out
cellular parts.
They enable the recycling of molecules to produce new parts.

PEROXISOMES
Membrane-bound organelles similar to lysosomes.
They are responsible for the oxidation and metabolism
of very long fatty acids and lipids.

MITOCHONDRIA
- Also called the “energy powerhouses”of the cell.
- They supply energy to the cell by undergoing cellular respiration.
- They synthesize life energy- adenosine triphosphate or ATP.

CHLOROPLAST
- Carries out photosynthesis (a series of complex chemical reactions
that converts energy from the sun to energy-rich molecules that
the cells can use.
