The document contains a series of questions related to soil properties, including soil permeability, sensitivity, leaching potential, and texture. It discusses the relationship between these factors and their implications for groundwater contamination. Additionally, it touches on the characteristics of different soil types and their impact on water movement and contamination risk.

1. How can you relate soil permeability to soil sensitivity?

(5 points)

2. What is soil sensitivity? (5 points)

3. How can you relate soil permeability to leaching potential? (10 points)

4. What is the difference between soil with high leaching potential and soil
with low
leaching potential? (10 points)

5. What is the relation of soil texture to its permeability? (10 points)

Because permeability is controlled by the size and continuity of soil pores,
soil texture has a big impact on the rate at which the water moves through
the soil. Coarse-textured soils or sandy soils have large pores, allowing high
permeability and rapid drainage. Medium-textured soils or loamy soils have
moderate pores, leading to moderate permeability and balanced water
retention. Lastly fine-textured soils or clay soils have small pores, resulting in
low permeability and slow water movement.

6. Why does dense soil have low permeability? (10 points)

7. What is the condition that increase the risk of groundwater contamination?

9. How and why perched water table do not increase the risk of groundwater
contamination? (10 points)
