The types of ARFID include: avoidant (sensory featured), aversive (fear-based),

restrictive (little-to-no interest), ARFID “plus" (co-occurring eating disorder), and
adult ARFID (experienced at adult).
PICAC A P I C A
An eating disorder where a person compulsively
eats things that aren’t food and don’t have any
nutritional value or purpose. Depending on when
and why a person does this, pica can be normal,
expected and harmless. However, it can cause major

RUMINATION DISORDER
The term rumination is derived from the Latin word ruminare meaning
“chew the cud”.
Rumination disorder is a condition in which people repeatedly and
unintentionally spit up (regurgitate)undigested or partially digested food
from the stomach, re-chew it, and then either re-sallow it or spit it out.
It is a chronic motility disorder characterized by effortless regurgitation
of most meals following consumption, due to involuntary contraction of
the muscles around the abdomen.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Effortless regurgitation, typically within 10 minutes of eating.
Repeated re-chewing of food
Weight loss
Bad breath and tooth decay
Abdominal pain or pressure relieved by regurgitation
Raw and chapped lips
Infants with rumination may make unusual movements like straining and
arching the back, holding the head back, tightening the abdominal muscles,
and making sucking movements with the mouth. (To bring back up the
partially indigested food).

psychological or physical harm, but do not meet strict criteria for
eating disorders, requiring similar medical and psychological
intervention.
