LAB PRACTICAL EXERCISE


EXERCISE 1:

1) Complete the Last Name and First Name by inputting the records of your choice
2) Wrap Text the Field Names
3) Using the fill command, fill in the Admission Number from the first record to the last.
4) If the Passing Mark is 65% select those students who PASS or FAIL individual test.
5) Sort the Software Column
6) Calculate the Sub Total for the various Software.
7) Using the Sub Total for each of the Software, draw a Bar Chart of your choice.
8) Protect your worksheet from any intruder who may want to intrude into your work.
9) Rename your original sheet as Student Grades

SOLUTION TO THE EXERCISE

Q1. How to Wrap Text.


 Highlights the first row by clicking row 1.
 Click format cell alignment. Click the drop-down arrow.
 Select center and click drop-down arrow and select top.
 Click wrap text: Click OK.

Q2. Using the fill command, fill in the Admission Number from the first record to the last.
 Highlight the first cell to the last cell.
 Click the drop-down arrow against fill at the far right in the editing column,
 Selects and click Auto fill.
 Click OK.

Q3. If the Passing Mark Is 65% Select Those Students Who Pass Or Fail Individual Test.
 Click the area you want the answer.
 Click format menu, click insert function icon,
 Click dropdown arrow against select a category select logical,
 Under select, a function click IF, click OK
 Click grade score by student follow by grate than sign > follow by is equal to sign = and
type the given percentage 65%, click insert the Value If True and type Pass, Click insert
the Value If False and type Fail.
 Do the same for the rest of the students.

Q4. Sort the Software Column.


 Highlight the software columns,
 Click the sort and filler dropdown arrow and select sort from A to Z.

Q5. Calculate the Sub Total for the various Software


 Highlight the entire working area.
 Click Data menu and click subtotal in the outline column,
 Click the drop-down arrow against at each change in select software,
 Click the drop-down against the use function select sum, under Add subtotal deactivate
remark and activate grade click OK.

Q6. Using the Sub Total for each of the Software, draw a Bar Chart of your choice.
 Click all the minus sign (-) on the left and leave the last one,
 Highlight the software and grade column.
 Click Chart Title and Subtotal as the title.

Q7. Protect your worksheet from any alteration and create a duplicate copy of your sheet to
a new sheet.

 Click Review menu,


 Click on Protect Sheet,
 Enter your password,
 Confirm your password.
 Click ok.

Q8. Rename your original sheet as Student Grades.


 Return to your original sheet.
 Right-click on sheet name,
 Click on rename and type Student Grades.
 Click on the save icon.
