Vocabulary
El presente simple es un tiempo verbal que se usa para hablar de rutinas, lo que una persona hace
habitualmente como “levantarse”, “cepillarse los dientes”, “desayunar”, etc.

Cuando tengo que hablar de mi rutina tenemos que usar el pronombre personal de la primera persona del
singular (I) siempre en mayúscula.
Entonces para decir "Yo me levanto" digo " I get up" y si tenemos que decir la hora le agregamos siempre la
preposición AT y luego la HORA: "Yo me levanto A LAS 3 en punto" - " I get up AT three o´clock."

PRESENT SIMPLE: 3RD PERSON SINGULAR
(HE / SHE / IT)
Language in Use
Cuando hablamos de actividades diarias o rutinas los verbos se conjugan con la tercera persona del singular
(HE / SHE / IT) en las oraciones AFIRMATIVAS. Cuando hablamos de la primer persona del singular (I), o la
segunda persona del singular (YOU) o las personas de plural (WE / YOU / THEY) los verbos NO se conjugan.
Existen ciertas reglas ortográficas a tener en cuenta cuando conjugamos los verbos con HE / SHE / IT:
Todos los verbos agregan “s”:
Los verbos que terminan en CONSONANTE + Y se cambia a “i” y agregan “es”. Mientras que los que
terminan en VOCAL + Y solamente agregan “s”.

Los adverbios de frecuencia son palabras que se usan para indicar con que periodicidad alguien o algo hace
una actividad. Los adverbios de frecuencia siempre responden a la pregunta “How often…?” (¿Con que

FUNCIÓN INTERROGATIVA
Respuestas cortas: Yes-no questions se las llaman así porque solamente se responden con si y no.
Estructura gramatical
Ambos auxiliares van siempre al comienzo de las preguntas de respuestas cortas. Y los verbos en las preguntas
están siempre en infinitivo (sin conjugar) porque ya están conjugados los auxiliares. Si la pregunta arranca con
do, voy a responder con do / don´t, y si la pregunta arranca con does, voy a responder con does / doesn´t. (tal
como se muestra en los ejemplos del cuadro de arriba)

FUNCIÓN INTERROGATIVA
Respuestas largas: wh-questions se las llaman así porque se agregan al comienzo de las interrogativas,
las palabras who (quien), where (donde), when (cuando), what (que), why (por que) how (como), how
often (con qué frecuencia), what time (a qué hora), etc. y se las llama preguntas de respuestas largas
porque siempre se debe elaborar una respuesta para el interrogante de la oración:
Estructura gramatical
Cada palabra interrogativa pregunta por una determinada información (tal como se muestra en el cuadro de
arriba con las palabras en rojo) y su estructura es similar a la de las respuestas cortas.
