First Term English Test

atma Sid Ahmed, well known as Fatima N’Soumer is an important Algerian fighter. She was born in 1830

in Tizi-Hibel, a village in Kabylia, Algeria. She came from a religious family and showed great intelligence and

devotion to Islam from an early age. Fatima N’Soumer became a prominent figure during the Algerian resistance

against French colonization in the mid-19th century. She played a huge role in Algeria’s independence. She led

the resistance and inspired men and women to fight for freedom. Her courage and leadership in battles like the

Battle of Tachekkirt in 1854 earned her the nickname “The Joan of Arc of Kabylia.” Unfortunately, she was

captured by the French in 1857 and lived the rest of her life under house arrest until she died in 1863 in Benyen.

Fatima N’Soumer remains a symbol of rebellion and national pride in Algeria
