Day 2: Storytelling with Data
Tableau In-class Assignment:
Q1. Using the volcano_data_2010.csv dataset. Explore the following questions 1) Calculate the average elevation of volcanoes in the dataset. 2) Find the total number of volcanoes in the dataset. 3) Determine the maximum number of deaths caused by a single volcano eruption. List the volcanoes in descending order of their eruptions recorded.
Q2. Using the volcano_data_2010.csv dataset. Explore the following
questions. Display the results using appropriate visualizations. 1) Calculate the number of months since the last eruption for each volcano. Display in a bubble chart 2) Create a line chart showing the number of eruptions each year. 3) Find the number of eruptions that occurred in the last 50 years across the countries.
Q3 . Using the volcano_data_2010.csv dataset.
1) Create a calculated field to determine whether a volcano is currently active or not based on the last eruption date. Visualize them in a map chart. If the last eruption occurred after May 1974, then we can consider the Volcano as active. 2) Create a calculated field to Identify volcanoes that are deemed highly dangerous based on a combination of factors such as elevation, deaths, and recent activity. Visualize them in a map chart Use the following conditions to identify highly dangerous volcanoes: a) Elevation>=3000 and b) Deaths>10 and c) the last eruption occurred after May 2014
Q4. Create a bullet graph for the severity of death due to volcano eruptions. Day 2: Storytelling with Data
Q5. Using Volcano Dataset - Create a Dashboard that geographically
describes the severity, of the last 50 years of eruptions. Use the existing line chart worksheet as the master filter over the dashboard for years.
