Wait Ka Paigaam

FADE IN:

INT. POST OFFICE - MORNING

The camera pans over a small, cluttered post office. Dust dances
in the sunlight streaming through old windows. Papers, envelopes,
and packages are stacked haphazardly.

RAJ, a middle-aged postman with a weathered but lively face, sits

at a desk clearing out old mail. A yellowed envelope falls out of
a pile he is sorting. His friend KISHORE, a retired postman, sits
nearby with a cup of tea.

KISHORE
(sipping tea)
Aur bhai, bas ek hafta aur? Retire hone ka time
aa hi gaya.

RAJ
(smiling)
Haan, samajh lo ek puri zindagi guzar gai yun galiyon
mein cycle chala chala ke. Ab ek nayi shuruaat ka samay hai.

Raj picks up the yellowed envelope, noticing the date.

RAJ
Arre, yeh kya? Yeh toh... bees saal purana hai!

KISHORE
(curious)
Kya! Bees saal purana kya ho sakta hai usme?

Raj carefully opens the envelope to find official land ownership

papers.

RAJ
Yeh toh land papers hain, Ram Lal naam ke ek
aadmi ke. Bees saal se yahan padha hai aur kisi ne
deliver hi nahi kiya!

KISHORE
Tab toh yeh kisi puraane postman ka kaam raha hoga, jab tu
aur main toh yahan the hi nahi.

RAJ
Haan, lagta hai kisi postman ki galti se yeh chhut
gaya hoga. Par yeh toh bohot important hai. Main ise khud
deliver karunga. Farz pura karna hai.
KISHORE
Ye toh agle gaon ka address hai. Main bhi chalun?

RAJ
(politely)
Nahi Kishore, tum yahan office sambhalo. Koi zaroorat padhi
toh tumhe bata doonga.

---

EXT. VILLAGE - AFTERNOON

Raj cycles to the nearby village. The camera captures the serene
rural landscape as he pedals with determination. He arrives at the
listed address, finding an abandoned house. The yard is overgrown
with weeds, and the walls are cracked. The windows are boarded up.

Raj stops and examines the house. A look of concern crosses his
face. He notices an elderly man sitting on a charpai nearby,
chewing on a neem twig.

RAJ
Namaste, kaka. Yeh ghar kiska tha? Main Ram Lal ji ke liye
ek zaroori letter leke aaya hoon.

ELDERLY MAN
(adjusting his shawl)
Arre beta, woh toh kaafi saal pehle yahaan se chale gaye
the. Zameen ka case chal raha tha unka. Woh toh ab sheher mein
rehte hain.

RAJ
(thoughtfully)
Kya aapko unka naya address pata hai?

ELDERLY MAN
(pointing towards the road)
Sheher ke ek gareeb ilake mein jaane suna tha. Wahan kisi ek
kamre ke ghar mein rehte hain.

Raj nods gratefully.

RAJ
Dhanyavaad, kaka.

He adjusts his satchel and cycles back, looking thoughtful yet

resolved.

---

EXT. POST OFFICE - EVENING

Raj returns to the post office, finding Kishore locking the door.

KISHORE
Arre Raj, tum phir yahan? Kya hua?

RAJ
Kal subah mujhe sheher ke liye nikalna hai. Woh family ab
wahan rehti hai. Tum office dekh lena jab tak main wapas na aaun.

KISHORE
(smiling)
Bas itni si baat? Tum nishchint raho, Raj. Main sab sambhal
lunga.

Raj pats Kishore on the shoulder with a grateful smile.

RAJ
Dhanyavaad, dost.

---

INT. RAJ'S HOME - MORNING

Raj prepares to leave. SITA, his lean and energetic wife, stands
by the door holding a tiffin.

SITA
Toh sach mein chal diye? Bees saal purana paper
deliver karne?

RAJ
(smiling)
Haan, Sita. Bees saal purana ho ya ek din purana,
farz farz hota hai.

SITA
(sighing)
Waise toh yeh baatein bahut achhi lagti hain... par
train aur cycle ki thakaan aapko retire hone se pehle
retire kar degi!

RAJ
(chuckling)
Thakaan se zyada sukoon milega, yeh jaanke ki maine
ek adhura kaam pura kiya.

She hands him the tiffin with a smile.

SITA
(sincerely)
Acha, dhyan rakhna.
---

EXT. CITY - MORNING

Raj arrives in the city and walks through a crowded, bustling

street filled with vendors and noise. He finds the address—a small
one-room house in a poor locality. The house is locked.

He looks around and notices a neighbor, BASANTI, standing by a tea

stall.

RAJ
Namaste, behanji. Main Ram Lal ji ko dhoondh raha hoon. Yeh
unka address hai, lekin yeh ghar toh band hai.

BASANTI
Haan, woh yahaan rehte hain. Lekin abhi court gaye hain. Aaj
unka zameen ka aakhri hearing hai.

RAJ
Kya aap bata sakti hain ki court kahan hai?

BASANTI
(pointing)
Bus stand ke paas wala court.

RAJ
Mujhe turant pahuchna hoga.

BASANTI
Mere pati ka ek purana cycle hai. Chalega kya?

RAJ
Dhanyavaad behanji.

Raj takes the bicycle and heads to the courthouse.

---

INT. COURTHOUSE - EVENING

The courtroom is tense. RAM LAL, SHANTI, and ARJUN sit anxiously.
Their lawyer struggles against the OPPOSING LAWYER.

OPPOSING LAWYER
Proof ke bina yeh claim bilkul aswikar hai.

The judge is about to rule when RAJ enters with the letter.

RAJ
Maaf kijiye, Judge sahab. Main ek retired postman
hoon. Yeh document kaafi mahatvapoorna hai.
The FAMILY LAWYER scans the letter.

FAMILY LAWYER
(with a new-found confidence)
Judge sahab, yeh asli land papers hain jo mere
client ke adhikaar ko sabit karte hain.

The judge reviews the papers and rules in favor of Ram Lal.

JUDGE
Is pramaan ke roop mein, yeh zameen Ram Lal ji ki
hai. Case dismiss.

Ram Lal and his family cry tears of relief, thanking Raj
profusely.

SHANTI
Aap… Aap ne humain bacha liya.

RAJ
Maine toh sirf apna farz ada kiya hai.

EXT. COURTHOUSE STEPS - SUNSET

Raj watches as the family embraces. He steps back quietly, walking

away with his satchel. The camera follows him as he heads toward
the train station.

EXT. COUNTRYSIDE ROAD - SUNSET

Raj cycles along a quiet road. The sunset casts a golden glow over
the landscape. His satchel is empty, but his heart is full.

FADE TO BLACK.
