II. Get or produce the following data or information

A. History of your college

 Charles Henry Brent established Brent Hospital and Colleges
Incorporated, which has been offering the community
medical and health services, as well as the education and
training of health professionals, since the institution’s
opening in 1914. Additionally, BHCI keeps upgrading its
facilities. Mammography, 2D echo, CT scan, and digital
radiology services went live in 2018. Additionally, it has a
maternity lying-in center and a brand-new medical oxygen
generator. The college offers medical technology, midwifery,
nursing, physical therapy, and radiologic technology
undergraduate studies. Additionally, it offers a Senior High
School division that provides STEM and TVL. Additionally
offered are TESDA-approved tech-voc courses in medical
transcription, caregiving, and health care services.
B. History of your City or Municipality
 The development of the word “Zamboanga” offers an
intriguing window into the region’s past. The area was
known as “Jambangan” by the early Malay settlers, which is
Malay for “Land of the Flowers.” The subanons, also known
as the “People of the River,” were these Malays who
established their communities around riverbanks. The
Samals and the Badjaos later arrived on their flimsy vintas
and settled here as well, building their flimsy huts along the
shorelines.

They confused “Jambangan” with “Samboangan,” which

comes from the word “Sabuan,” the wooden pole used to
help push their vintas in shallow waters or to tie them for
anchorage. Their chief, Saragan, lived with his family atop
the legendary Mount Pulumbato. Spanish invaders called
the area “Zamboanga” instead of “Samboangan” because
they had trouble pronouncing the former. The history of the
city is vivid and rich. As early as the 13th and 14th centuries, it
served as the hub of barter trade between Chinese, Malays,
and the local Tausugs, Samals, Subanons, and Badjaos.

The Spanish first made their presence known in La Caldera,

today known as Recodo, when they briefly erected a tiny
Catholic Mission there in 1569. Later, on June 23, 1635,
Father Melchor de Vera, a Jesuit priest-engineer, and the
Spanish government lay the cornerstone of what is now
known as Fort Pilar.
The name of the location was changed from Samboangan to
Zamboanga on this date. The city was founded on this day.
The Philippines’ Spanish-American War ended in 1899, when
the United States of America achieved complete control in
Zamboanga. In Mindanao and Sulu, a unique kind of
government was developed. The capital was changed to
Zamboanga.

The American Military Government in the Philippines

transformed Zamboanga into a city in the Commission Form
throughout the twelve years that it existed. Zamboanga was
the first province in Mindanao to do so. However, the
Department of Mindanao and Sulu was established in place
of the Moro Province’s government, which was disbanded.
Practically every job in the government was given to the
Filipino citizens of Zamboanga under this system.
Zambaonga was designated a Charter City by the
Commonwealth of the Philippines in 1936. Zamboanga
continued to advance and expand, and in 1983, Interior
Minister Jose Roo declared Zamboanga metropolis to be a
highly urbanized metropolis.
