CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates an understanding of how Anglo-American literature and
other text types serve as a means of connecting to the world; also, how to use as of
analyzing one-act play and different forms of verbal for him/her to skillfully
perform in one-act play.
PERFORMANCE The learner skillfully performs in one-act play through utilizing effective verbal
STANDARD and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria; Focus,
Voice, Delivery, and Dramatic Conventions.

MOTIVATION
Watch a video clip of Panelo and Karen Davila’s controversial interview about the
ABSCBN franchise. Observe the exchange a conversation between the two and how they
delivered it.

PRESENTATION  The teacher will present the lesson and shall present the objectives as well.
c. ACTIVITY The teacher will call 2 volunteers of the class. Each volunteer will give sentences to
analyze and brainstorm. Observe the sentences given and present in front of your
observation.

d. ABSTRACTION
(Discussion) DIRECT SPEECH
Direct Speech is being repeated exactly as it was and sometimes called (quoted speech).
Here it appears what a person’s says within quotation marks (‘….”) and it should be word
for word.
For example:
 She says, “I like chocolate.”
 He said, “I visited Paris.”
 “I like ice cream,” she said.
 “Can you help me?” he said.

INDIRECT SPEECH
Indirect Speech is a speech which tells you what someone said but does not use the
person's actual words. Also, it is another term for reported speech.

For example:
 She said she had been working.
 The doctor told me to stop smoking.
 She exercises every morning.
 They take the bus to work.

GENERALIZATION
The class will be divided into two groups, each group will identify if the sentences is
direct or indirect speech.

We said to him, “Are you ill?”


He had said to me that they had been playing
We asked him if he was ill.
He had said to me, “We have been playing.”
You asked me if I had read the article.
You said to me, “Have you read the articles?”
