Students Spending Habits

Introduction
As we know, students nowadays like to overspend their money on something
wasteful and does not give any benefit to them. The aim of this report is about a
survey on the students spending habits.

What students spend the most

In this modern era, students spend the most on food and drinks. There is a lot of
trendy foods and drinks in Malaysia that attract the students to buy it. Apart from
that, a lot of cafes have opened around the school areas that lead them to spend
on the trendy foods. For instance, butterfly croissants, ‘cromboloni’ and spud
potatoes are the most popular food. On the other hand, students also love to
drink coffee in their daily life.

What influences student's spending decisions

From my perspective, one of the reasons that influences student's spending
decisions is to keep up with trend. By doing so, they will think it is easy to blend
in with other people. Undoubtedly, lack of parents’ supervision will lead students
to spend huge amount of money without thinking twice. Eventually, without
proper guidance, students will develop poor spending habits.

Ways to Manage Money

Furthermore, the Consumer Club organized an awareness campaign. This
campaign encouraged students to learn the correct ways to spend money and
saving habits. Additionally, the Consumer Club conducted financial mentorship
sessions, engaging mentors or alumni with financial expertise to share their
experiences. The Consumer Club also facilitated peer-to-peer learning by
creating student groups to discuss and learn financial strategies together.

Conclusion:

Understanding and improving students’ spending habits is crucial for fostering financial
responsibility. By implementing these recommendations, the school can help students
develop essential financial skills for the future. These efforts will contribute to shaping a
generation of financially responsible individuals, capable of navigating the complexities of
modern economic challenge.
