Dear Sophie and Jasmin,

I am writing to express my interest in the Ecological Consultant Assistant position at Acacia.


With a background in Environmental Science (graduating 2024) and a growing practical
experience in ecological fieldwork and a deep intrigue in environmental consultancy, I am
excited about the opportunity to contribute to your team.

In my previous volunteer role as a Flora and Fauna surveyor for the EPA (Elsternwick Park
Association), I assisted in conducting ecological surveys, including vegetation monitoring and
environmental impact assessments of this wetland project, ensuring compliance with relevant
environmental legislation. In my current role with Acacia and in my personal journey I have
developed a high proficiency in native flora identification and am learning more every day.
Although I have yet to gain experience in building management plans, I very much am
dedicated to understanding and implementing these plans and I can draw from my supervisory
experience in my first job as a lead bartender/supervisor. Allowing me to supervise contractors
and assist in developing compliant land and building management plans which aligns well with
the key responsibilities outlined in the position description.

I am particularly drawn to this role because of the deepening impact Acacia is having on their
sites, and I wish to further grow my repertoire of skills in the area of environmental management
and consultancy. Engaging with stakeholders and land owners really excites me as well as
seeing the long-term impact on projects. I would especially be dedicated to developing my
environmental monitoring and biodiversity assessment skills. I am eager to support and learn
from Acacia supervisors such as Ryan Anderson… and assist in maintaining high standards of
environmental compliance and quality. My strong communication skills and familiarity with field
data collection, data management software, GIS and programming (R and Python) and report
writing from my various university projects of which I have a High distinction average, will enable
me to effectively assist in data collection and report preparation. I also have full manual license,
White card certification, waiting on my ACUP and waiting to get my chainsaw/4WD.
