Palit Basura-Environmental Caravan

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office regularly conduct


ENVIRONMENTAL CARAVAN to the barangays of the City. The caravan includes the
following activities.

 IEC on different Environmental laws Lectures conducted concentrated on the


three major topics: Proper Segregation of Waste at Source Plastic and
Styrofoam Regulation Ordinance Septage Siphoning as per City Ordinance

 Palit Basura Palit Bombilya Program Hand-outs were given to the barangay
constituents as part of our Intensive Information Education Campaign.

 “Waste to Goods-Palit Basura” Activity encourages waste segregation and


prevent improper and unacceptable practices like burning of waste or burying
of wastes that can have a negative effect on the environment shall be
conducted. Hazardous/medical wastes and toxic/chemical wastes shall be
collected every last Saturday of the month or as needed. Hazardous/medical
wastes and toxic/chemical wastes from the establishments, institutions and
industries are not to be collected since they are responsible for their
treatment and disposal. Major target recipient of this project are upland
barangays since they have a limited access to junkshops to sell their
recyclable wastes.

We reiterated the practice of Reduce the use of single plastic in our daily life. Reuse
practice like bringing of reusable bottled water in our daily life and Recycle all items
to avoid them being dumped in the Engineered Sanitary Landfill Facility.

Twelve (12) barangays were catered this year amidst Covid-19 pandemic. Minimum
health standards were observed during the activities.
