Social network models illustrate the connections between individuals, groups, or organizations using graphs with nodes and edges. Key types include the Graph Theory Model, which analyzes connections and information flow; the Small-World Network Model, which highlights how distant individuals can be connected through a few intermediaries; and the Scale-Free Network Model, where certain 'hubs' have significantly more connections, influencing the network's dynamics. These models are essential for understanding communication, information sharing, and the structure of social networks.

8. Define social network models.

Explain few types of social network models with

relevant diagrams.
Social Network Models
Social network models show how people, groups, or organizations are connected.

They are shown as graphs with:

Nodes: These are people, groups, or things.

Edges: These show the connections or relationships between them.

● These models are used to study how people share ideas, how groups work together,
and how information spreads.

● They help to understand the relationships and connections between different things.

● These models are used to study how information moves between people or groups.

● They help us see how people communicate and share information in a network.

Types of Social Network Models

1. Graph Theory Model

● The network is made up of nodes (people or things) and edges (connections between
them).

● It shows how people or things are linked together.

● It helps to find important people or things in a network.

● Used to study how things are connected and how information moves.

● This model helps to understand the structure of networks.

2. Small-World Network Model

● Most people in the network are not directly connected, but they can be connected
through a few people.

● It shows that people who are far apart in a network can still be connected quickly.

● This model helps explain how people can be connected through mutual friends.

● It shows how fast information can spread in large networks.

● It shows that even in a large network, everyone can be reached through a few
connections.

3. Scale-Free Network Model

● Some people in the network have many more connections than others.

● These people are called hubs.

● Hubs control most of the connections and flow of information.

● This model shows that a few people are very important in a network.

● It helps explain why some people in a network are very popular.
