This video tutorial explains how to use a 3D camera in After Effects, detailing its three-dimensional properties and how to manipulate layers. It covers the process of adjusting layers, using position properties, adding animations, and applying effects like drop shadows and optic compensation. The tutorial aims to provide a foundational understanding for viewers before moving on to more advanced techniques in future videos.

hi so in this video I'll be showing you
0:02 how 3D camera actually works in After 0:04 Effects and then at the end of the video 0:06 we are going to create these two 0:10 effects so first of all let's understand What is 3D Camera 0:12 what 3D camera actually is you can add 0:14 it by clicking over here and then 0:16 choosing this now 3D camera is actually 0:18 a cube which has length breadth and 0:20 height which means it has three 0:22 dimensions that's why it's called a 3D 0:24 camera and you can add your objects in 0:26 it to create these kind of effects one 0:28 more thing that you can use is this Change Angles 0:30 using this you can change angles and see 0:32 your object from every angle like the 0:34 front one like the back one top one the 0:36 bottom one and yeah that's it I know it 0:39 looks and sounds very complicated but 0:40 trust me once you try it it actually 0:42 becomes very easy so I just hope you 0:44 understood the basics and now let's 0:45 create these effects so first of all Change Layers 0:47 make sure that every layer that you are 0:49 using is below the 3D camera layer and 0:51 after that turn every single layer into 0:52 a 3D layer you can do that by clicking 0:55 on this box and if you don't see this 0:57 just click on toggle switches and you 0:58 should be able to see it now now it will Position Property 1:00 look kind of messy so you have to adjust 1:02 them by using position properties and 1:04 also make sure you use this because it 1:05 kind of makes adjusting them quite easy 1:08 so we are going to use position property 1:09 to adjust these layers because position 1:11 property has all three dimensions which 1:13 you can control through here the x-axis 1:15 is obviously the right and left the y- 1:16 axis is up and down and the z-axis is 1:19 back and forward don't confuse it with 1:20 scale because a lot of people do it but 1:22 it's not scale okay you are just pushing 1:24 it back that's why it looks small and if 1:26 you just pull it forward it will look 1:28 big that's all and by the way this is 1:30 the most important property so make sure 1:31 you just remember about this now I have 1:33 actually adjusted every single one of Animations 1:35 them because it takes a lot of time it 1:36 took me around 45 minutes to do so which 1:38 is kind of annoying but you just have to 1:40 do it okay so yeah now let's just add 1:42 the animations okay so first of all 1:43 let's add another another layer and 1:46 after that P the camera to the N 1:49 layer now click on this and hit p and 1:53 make sure you separate the 1:55 dimensions and make sure you make the N 1:57 lay 3D as well I forgot to do it over 1:59 here so yeah make sure you don't forget 2:02 now you can see I can manipulate all the 2:04 all the different properties separately 2:07 like this this the X this the Y and this 2:09 is the Z now I'm going to put a key 2:11 frame on the Z and then I'm going to hit 2:13 R to open up the rotations and I'm going 2:15 to key frame the Z 2:18 rotation and I think I'm going to put it 2:20 to around - 6 yeah that should be fine 2:24 then I'm going to go over 2:27 here then I'm going to put this one to 2:30 zero and I'm going to hit U so that I 2:32 can only see the key frames and I want 2:35 to just increase the Z position until I 2:38 reach the final 2:40 [Music] 2:42 layer yeah I think this should be fine Graphing 2:45 now I'm going to select the Z position 2:48 and hit up n to easy the key frames then 2:51 I'm going to graph it like this by the 2:53 way this is a speed graph so make sure 2:55 you remember that and I'm going to graph 2:57 it like this after that click on Z 2:59 position as well and hit F9 to easy them 3:02 and I'm going to graph it in a similar 3:05 way see that looks really good in my 3:08 opinion and obviously if you want to 3:10 slow down them you can just increase the 3:13 distance between the key frames and mess 3:14 around with the graph a 3:17 bit yeah that looks really good and as 3:20 you can see I have added a drop shoted 3:21 to these stairs because they kind of 3:23 stand out if I just add the drop shadow 3:26 these are the settings by the way if you 3:27 want to look and yeah there is one more 3:29 effect that I want to show you guys 3:31 first of all let's add a adjustment 3:34 layer and add optic compensation to it 3:38 I'm going to set this one to 3:41 65 and yeah that is it for the video I 3:44 know this is quite basic but I want you 3:45 to cover Basics first so that I can make 3:47 advanced tutorials in the future so yeah 3:49 if you want to watch them just subscribe 3:51 and if you have any tutorial ideas leave 3:52 them in the comment section I'll get to 3:54 them as soon as 3:58 possible oh
