MATHEMATICS
CLASS X (Two and Half hours) Marks: 100
Answers to this paper must be written on the paper provided separately.
You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes.
This time is to be spent in reading the question paper.
The time given at the head of this paper is the time allowed for writing the answers.

Attempt all questions from section A and any four questions from section B. All working, including
rough work, must be clearly shown and must be done on the same sheet
as the rest of the answer.
Omission of essential working will result in loss of marks.
The intended marks for questions or parts of questions are given in bracket []

SECTION A (40 marks)

Question 1
a) Determine the number of terms in the AP 3, 7, 11, ----, 407. Also find its 20th term
from the end. [3]
b) Solve the inequation: -2 + 2x ≤ ≤ + 2x , x ɛ W. Graph the solution set on the
number line. [4]
c) A bag contains 5 red balls, 8 white balls, 4 green balls and 7 black balls. If one ball is
drawn at random, find the probability that it is
i) Black ball
ii) Red ball
iii) Not green ball [3]

x – 2 and x -3 respectively, find the value of a and b . [3]
c) For the following distribution, draw a histogram and estimate mode from it. [4]

a) Numbers 50,42, 35, 2x + 10, 2x + 8, 12, 11, 8, 6 are written in descending order and

b) In the figure, C and D are points on the semi-circle described on BA as diameter.
Given <BAD = 700 and <DBC = 300. Calculate <ABD and <BDC [3]

c) Use a graph paper for this question [4]


i) Plot the points P (4, 6) and Q(1, 2)
ii) P’ is the image of P when reflected in X-axis. Write the coordinates of P’
iii) Q’ is the image of Q when reflected in the line PP’. Writ the coordinates of Q’.
iv) Give the geometrical name for the figure PQP’Q’.

a) A dealer in Mumbai sold a refrigerator to a consumer in Mumbai for ₹.21,500. If
the rate of GST is 18%, find
i) IGST
ii) CGST

b) In what ratio is the line joining the points (4,2) and (3, -5) divided by the X-axis?
Also, find the coordinates of the point of intersection. [3]
c) In ΔABC, <ABC =<DAC, AB = 8cm, AC = 4cm, AD = 5cm.
i) Prove that Δ ACD is similar to ΔBCA
ii) Find BC and CD
iii) Find area of Δ ACD : area of Δ ABC. [4]

Question 8
a) In the figure, O is the centre of the circle and AB is a chord of the circle. Line
QBS is a tangent to the circle at B. If <AOB = 1100, find <APB and <ABQ. [3]

b) A train covers the same distance of 300km between two stations at a speed of
x km per hour. Another train covers the same distance at a speed of (x – 5) km per
hour. If the first train takes 3 hours less than the second train, finds the speed
of each train. [4]
c) From a well shuffled pack of 52 cards, two black kings and two black jacks are
removed. From the remaining cards, a card is drawn at random. Find the probability
that the drawn card is neither an ace nor a king. [3]

axis. Using graph, determine:
i) The median marks
ii) The number of students who failed if minimum marks required to pass is 40. [6]
