I was raised in a middle-class family in a small town in eastern India, where I completed my
schooling with dedication and honesty. My mother has always placed the utmost importance on
education and being financially independent. At every stage of my life, she made an effort to instill
in me the value of education. She has always been the anchor in my life who has encouraged me
to soar high and never clip my wings. This zeal has always driven me, and ever since I was 10, I
have aspired to be a top women leader. As my mother always says “the only path by which you
can achieve your dreams is through higher education” so I am aware of the value of a university
degree and how it would advance my career. I have always been a very motivated and diligent
student, which is why I am cognizant that I cannot simply stay at home and daydream; I must
instead take risks and give it my all.
I have a wide range of interests, but I realized very early on that I need to have a firm grasp of
science, business, and law in order to achieve my dream of becoming one of the top 50 women in
business. In line with this, I completed my B.Tech in electronics and communication engineering,
then felt drawn to business and completed my MBA. It became blatantly obvious to me during and
after my MBA program that managers needed to be familiar with local laws to successfully run a
business. I was able to get a quick glimpse into the theoretical side of business law thanks to my
MBA. After finishing my engineering degree, I decided to pursue a business degree because of the
subject's complexity and intriguing nature. The ability of business to blend with everyday issues
intrigues me. Now, the law is something that goes hand in hand with business either explicitly or
implicitly. The practical application of business meets the law. A business law LLM will expand my
career potential to the nth degree. As a result, I feel that now is the perfect time to obtain my LLM.
I researched a lot before deciding on OsgoodePD's part-time Professional LLM because it prides
itself on being a graduate law program focusing on interdisciplinary learning and offers its students
a distinctive blend of theoretical, applied, and academic perspectives. What distinguishes it for me
is that students learn here through interactive discussions, investigating real-world problems
associated with each specialization, and having access to a wide variety of elective options to
broaden their legal knowledge and explore new topics associated with their professional interests.
As Osgoode places a strong emphasis on gaining practical experience through hands-on education,
I needed a course of study that would enable me to engage directly with lawyers and real-world
clients. This will develop in me critical professional skills such as interview techniques, evidence
analysis, and sound judgment and Osgoode fits to a T. Also, I required my college to understand
my needs because I work full-time, so I am applying for the part-time LLM option.
