The Day the Weather Changed

Liam and his little sister, Emma, loved playing outside. Every summer, they ran through the green fields near their
home. In winter, they built snowmen and had snowball fights. But one year, something strange happened.

It was winter, but there was no snow. Instead, it rained almost every day. The rivers became too full, and some
streets in their town flooded. "This is so weird," Emma said. "Winter should be cold and snowy, not rainy!"

Their teacher, Mr. Johnson, explained the reason. "This is because of climate change," he said. "The Earth is getting
warmer, and the weather is changing everywhere."

"But why?" Liam asked.

Mr. Johnson sighed. "People burn a lot of coal, oil, and gas. This puts gases in the air that trap heat. So, the world is
getting hotter, but that also means the weather becomes unusual—more storms, more floods, and even stronger
heatwaves."

Liam and Emma wanted to help. They started turning off lights when they didn’t need them. They walked or rode
their bikes instead of asking their parents for a car ride. They even planted a tree in their garden.

One day, after another rainy week, Emma looked at Liam and smiled. "Maybe we can't stop climate change alone,
but if everyone helps, we can make a difference."

Liam nodded. "Yeah, let's start with our small changes!"

And so, their little actions became big steps toward saving the planet.
