2. IMPLEMENTING AGENCY – CIPET
Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) is a premier national institution
under the aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India fully devoted to Skill
Development, Technology Support Services, Academic and Research & Development (STAR). CIPET
operates at 42 locations (IPT, CSTS, SARP & Petrochemical Data Services) spread across the length &
breadth of the country catering to the needs of Polymer and allied industries.

CIPET stands not only as a premier institute in the country but also emerged as a global institution
renowned for its research & development process and high-quality training in the field of plastics. CIPET
has been accredited with ISO 9001:2008 QMS, ISO/IEC - 17025, ISO/IEC - 17020 certification on
Design, Development and Conduct of specialized training courses in Plastics Engineering & Technology
and rendering technical /consultancy services in design, tooling, plastics processing & testing to the
plastics & allied industry. Besides ATR activities, CIPET also plays pivotal role in developing
employment opportunities especially for youths, self-employment and entrepreneur development though
various skill development training programs.

Headquartered in Chennai, CIPET has centres at Korba, Raipur, Agartala, Ahmedabad, Amritsar,
Aurangabad, Bhopal, Baddi, Balasore, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandrapur, Chennai, Dehradun,
Guwahati, Gwalior Hyderabad, Hajipur, Haldia, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Madurai, Mysore
Murthal, Ranchi, Valsad, Vijaywada. All the 42 state-of-the-art centers are equipped with excellent
infrastructure facilities in the areas of Design, CAD/CAM/CAE, Tooling & Mould Manufacturing, Plastics
Processing, Plastic Testing and Quality Assurance of India. The infrastructure facilities in terms
machineries, equipments and technology are continuously upgraded and modernized in tune with the
global plastics industry.

CIPET works in close junction with industries to implement its initiatives in the areas of Polymer and
allied industries in accordance with the environmental policies of the country. CIPET's sustained efforts
in creating awareness on environmental issues towards plastics and plastics waste management has
been well received by the industry.

Objectives of CIPET:
 To provide qualified plastics professional at various skill levels through long term and vocational/ short
term academic programs in the field of Plastics Engineering & Technology.
 To offer Technology Support & Consultancy Services in the areas of Plastics Processing, Testing, Quality
Control, Inspection, Design, Tool Room, CAD/CAM/CAE, Calibration & Application Development.
 To undertake Research & Application Development in the areas of Reverse Engineering, Mould Flow
Analysis, Rapid Prototyping, Warp Analysis, Packing Analysis, Composites, Nano-composites, Bio-
polymers, Fuel Cell, E-waste, Recycling etc.
 To enhance the professional skill & competency levels of faculty by providing an opportunity for faculty to
upgrade their qualification and technical expertise through Advanced Training Programs.

Academic Programs and Skill Development:

Objectives of CIPET are in line with the National Policy on petrochemicals wherein focus is given for
developing trained human resources for the plastics & allied industries, which include professional skill
development through long term academic programs as well as Vocational Skill Development through
short duration programs.

Accordingly, CIPET conducts 10 different long-term academic programs in all the areas of Polymer
Science & Technology. CIPET also conducts Vocational / Skill Development Training Programs,
Computer Based Training, Modular Training Programs, Entrepreneurship Development Programs etc. in
the areas of Design / Tooling / CAD / CAM / CNC Program, Product Development / Processing of
Plastics / Machine Maintenance, Testing and Quality Improvement, Welding & Fabrication, Electrical,
Electronics, Hardware & Networking, Industrial Automation & Maintenance, Information &
Communication Technology for various Government & Non-Government agencies / Industries.

With the established linkage with industries, CIPET can able to offer placement assistance to the
successfully trained candidates. Efforts will also be made to place trainees in industrial establishments
on training-cum-job basis as well.

The decades of long association of CIPET with various plastic and allied industries and professional
bodies in India can definitely open up employment opportunities in the plastic industries as well as in
allied service sectors.

ABOUT CIPET – KORBA
A unit of CIPET has been established in the city of Korba situated at Power City of Chhattisgarh, in
September 2018 with the joint efforts of Govt. of India and Govt. of Chhattisgarh with a special focus to
provide academic and employment oriented skill development training to the
Unemployed/Underemployed youths of Chhattisgarh & to provide technical support service to plastics
and allied industries. CIPET is located at Education Hub, Syahimudi, Post- Gopalpur, Korba. The area of
campus is 18.2 acres.

By seeing the emerging need and growth of Plastics Industries in Northern part of Chhattisgarh. CIPET,
Korba is going to start long term academic programme along with the skill development programme for
meeting the upcoming needs and demands of the unemployed youths of Chhattisgarh in General,
Scheduled Tribe, Schedule Cast and youths of the L.W.E. districts in particular and enhance their
technical skills & providing them Self Wage employment for bringing them to the main stream.

CIPET, Korba will be providing training and technical consultancy services in the field of Design,
CAD/CAM/CAE, Tool Room, Plastic Processing and Testing. The centre has following specific objective
in various areas of training, technical and research & development activities. The centre is consistently
processing in terms of training and technical services.

CIPET Korba is playing a vital role to create skilled and technically trained manpower in the field of
Plastics Technology by the following Long Term & Short Terms Courses:

LONG TERMS COURSES –

i) Diploma in Plastic Technology – 3Yrs

ii) Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology- 3 Yrs

SHORT TERM COURSES –

i) Skill Development Training Programme under Mukhya Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana
(MMKVY) Sponsored by C.G State Skill Development Authority. .

ii) Registered on SDI portal for conducting Training under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas
Yojana, (PMKVY).
