Overview

1 Overview

This instruction describes the initial radio configuration of MINI-LINK 6691. The
purpose of the radio configuration is to prepare the radio terminals for antenna
alignment. The configuration of the NE parameters is done after antenna
alignment.

1.1 Installation Workflow

The flowchart shows the recommended installation workflow for installing the
MINI-LINK system. This document includes instructions for radio configuration.
For more information about the documents covering the steps in the workflow,
see Installation Workflow Overview.

(1) CLI Tool is needed on a PC if using CLI for configuring the node. Available on the NE is MINI-
LINK Node GUI.

2.2 Planning Advice

To ensure proper node and network function, all activities must be planned in
advance by skilled personnel. Before taking any actions, make sure that only
authorized persons have access to the NE.

2.3 Required Documentation

Read through this document. Make sure that referenced documentation is
available during the configuration process by having the electronic CPI library
available on your PC. See Accessing and Downloading a CPI Library for
information about how to make the CPI library available.

For how to access the node, see Accessing a Network Element.

For how to set the Telecom Standard to ANSI, see Configuring Network Element
Basics.

For details regarding applicable R/S/P values, see Naming Principles for Rack,
Slots, and Ports.

The following additional information is applicable when using CLI commands:

— For CLI basics, see CLI User Guide.

3 Radio Configuration

This section describes a recommended configuration procedure for NPU 1002The

same procedure applies to NPU 1003.

3.1 Setup Procedure

Step 1 If using CLI Tool, make sure CLI Tool is set up correctly. See Installing
or Uninstalling CLI Tool, for information on requirements and
installation instructions.
If using the CLI, make sure you have a CLI script file with CLI
commands that perform the initial setup.
Note:
MINI-LINK Node GUI is available on the NE, see Accessing a Network
Element.
Step 2 Make sure all required tools and accessories are available, see
Planning and Preparing on page 3.
Step 3 Make a radio terminal configuration.

Power (green) ON
Maintenance (blue) ON

During self-test, the LEDs on NPU 1002 have the following states:
Fault (red) ON
Power (green) ON
Maintenance (blue) OFF

After the startup and self-test are completed, the LEDs on NPU 1002 have
the following states:
Fault (red) OFF
Power (green) ON
Maintenance (blue) OFF

4. Ensure that the correct Telecom Standard is set. The Telecom Standard is set
to ETSI by default. For ANSI, the Telecom Standard must be set, using CLI or
MINI-LINK Node GUI, before continuing with the initial radio link
configuration. For instructions, see Configuring Network Element Basics.

Note: To set the Telecom Standard to ANSI, the NE must be in NPU

installation mode. For more information how to enter installation
mode, see Accessing a Network Element.

When the Telecom standard has been set, the NPU restarts and the
NE goes into normal mode.

5. Perform a radio terminal configuration for each MMU . For instructions, see
Configuring Radio Link.
