RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
The respiratory system plays role in exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the Atmospheric air,
blood and tissue cells.
The respiratory system is a vital network of organs and tissues that work together to bring oxygen into the
body and remove carbon dioxide.
The respiratory system consists of the nose, pharynx(throat), larynx(voice box), trachea Cardiovascular
system transports these gases through blood between the lungs and body cells.
Respiratory and cardiovascular systems cooperate to supply O2and eliminateCO2. The (windpipe), bronchi
and lungs.
1. Nose and Mouth: Air enters the body through the nostrils or mouth.

2. Pharynx (Throat): Air passes through the pharynx, a shared pathway for
food and air.
3. Larynx (Voice Box): The larynx contains the vocal cords and regulates the
flow of air.
4. Trachea (Windpipe): The trachea is a tube that carries air from the larynx to
the lungs.

5. Bronchi: The trachea divides into two bronchi, one for each lung. Namely
the right primary bronchi and the left primary bronchi
6. Lungs: The lungs are the primary organs of respiration, responsible for
exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide.

PROCESS OF RESPIRATION.
1. Inhalation: Air enters the nostrils or mouth, passes through the pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and
into the lungs.
2. Oxygen Diffusion: Oxygen from the inhaled air diffuses through the alveoli (tiny air sacs) in the lungs
and into the bloodstream.
3. Carbon Dioxide Removal: Carbon dioxide, a waste product, is transported from the bloodstream to the
lungs and exhaled out of the body.
4. Exhalation: Air is pushed out of the lungs, through the bronchi, trachea, larynx, pharynx, and out of the
nostrils or mouth.
