ABSTRACT
This study investigates the food safety and hygiene practices among street
food vendors in Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte, with a focus on compliance
levels, knowledge, and perceptions. The research employs a quantitative
survey design, collecting data from 106 street food vendors through
structured questionnaires. Findings reveal a slightly higher representation of
female consumer (57.5%) compared to males (42.5%), emphasizing the
importance of gender-specific interventions. Compliance assessments
indicate overall high adherence to food safety practices, with targeted areas
for improvement identified. Knowledge and perception analysis show a
generally positive awareness among vendors, with notable gender-based
differences. The study concludes with recommendations for tailored training
programs, continuous education initiatives, gender-specific interventions,
monitoring, collaboration with local authorities, and public awareness
campaigns. Implementing this recommendation, can enhance food safety
practices and contribute to improved public health outcomes in Labason.
INTRODUCTION

METHODS
This quantitative study assesses compliance levels and knowledge of food
safety practices among 106 street food vendors in Labason, Zamboanga Del
Norte, using a structured questionnaire adapted from a previous study.
By identifying socio-cultural and economic factors influencing food safety
practices in Labason, the research seeks to provide insights for targeted
interventions, enabling policymakers, local authorities, and stakeholders to
promote best practices and enhance public health outcomes.
Ethical considerations involve team training, approvals, and informed
consent, with data gathered through face-to-face interviews and self-
administration.
