WK 2:

ICT - is the study, design, development, application, implementation, support or the management of computer-
based information systems.

The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) is in charge of developing, planning, and
promoting the country's information and communication technology (ICT).

Web - an information system on the internet that allows documents to be connected to other documents by
hypertext links. It was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989.

WEB 1.0 (1989-2005)


- the first version of the internet, and was also known as the "read-only" web.

WEB 2.0 (1999-2012)


- the second stage of development of the internet, characterized by more user generated content.

Folksonomy - allows user to categorize and classify information using freely chosen keywoards.

WEB 3.0 (1999-NOW)


- the third generation of the World Wide Web and is based on the principles of decentralization and
openness.

Assistive Media - an internet-based reading service to serve people with visual and reading impairment.

Collaborative Platform - is a category of business software that adds broad social networking capabilities to work
processes.

Convergent Technology - an extension of the term convergence, which means 'coming together' of two or more
separate technology.

Social Media - are computer-mediated tools that allow people or companies to create, share or exchange
information, career interest, ideas and even pictures and videos.
EXAMPLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA:

1. Social Networks - These are sites that allows you to connect with other people with the same interest
or background.

2. Social News - these are sites that allow users to post their own news items or links to other news
sources.

3. Blogs and Forums - these websites allow user to post their content.

4. Media Sharing - these sites allow you to upload and share media content like images, music and video.

5. Bookmarking Sites - these are sites that allows you to store and manage links to various websites and
resources.

Internet Threats - are a category of cybersecurity risks that may cause an undersirable event or action via the
internet.

All viruses are malware but not all types of malware are viruses.

1. Virus - is a specific type of malware that self-replicates by insertng its code into other programs.

2. Malware - is catch-all term for any type of malicious software.

3. Trojan - is a form of malware that installs into a computer pretending to be a reliable application.
4. Rogue Security Software - is a type of malicious software and online fraud that tricks consumers into thinking
their computer has a virus.

5. Worm - is a standalone malware computer program that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers.

6. Spyware - is placed on a computer without end user's knowledge. It intrudes, takes private information and
internet usage data.

7. Keylogger - the act of secretly recording the keys pressed on a keyboard.

8. Phishing - is the deceiving attempt to obtain sensitive informations.

9. Spam - malspam is an abbreviation for "malware spam", which refers to spam messages that include malware.

Intellectual Propery Rights - is a category of property that includes intangible creations of the human intellect.

4 TYPES OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

1. Patent - generally 20 years.


2. Trade Secret - any valuable infromation that is not publicly known, 20 years.
3. Copyright - protects original work of authorship, 50 years.
4. Trademark - legal protection, usually 10 years.

Copyright Infringement - incldues the unauthorized or unlicensed copying of a work subject to copyright.

Plagiarism - is using someone else's work or ideas without giving proper credit.

Fair use - means that an intellectual property may be used without consent as long as it is used in fair uses of
copyrighted materials.

Site - Using site: to search with in specific website

Asterisk - Using * to fill the missing word or phrases

Hyphen - Using - to exclude word or phrases

Quotation - Use "" to search for exact word or phrases.

Link - Use link to search for a page that is link to another page.

WK 3:

Microsoft Word - is a word processor developed by Microsoft.

Quick Access Toolbar - lets you access common commands no matter which tab is selected.
Title Bar - This displays the document name followed by a program name.

The Ribbon - contails all of the commands you will need to perform common tasks in Word.

Command Group - each group contains a series of different commands.

Ruler- located at the top and to the left of your document. It makes it easier to make indention alignment and
spacing adjustments

Scroll Bar - scroll up and down through pages.

Zoom Control - click, hold, and drag the slider to use the zoom control.

Document Views - there are three ways to view a document

Read Mode - displays your document in full-screen mode


Print Layout - is selected by default. It shows the document as it would appear if it were printed.
Webpage Layout - shows how your document would look as a webpage.

Word Count - displays the number of words in your documents

Page Number Indicator - helps you keep track of the number of pages your document contains.

Backstage View - gives you various options for saving, opening a file, printing, and sharing your documents.

WK 5:
Microsoft Excel - is a spreadsheet developed by Microsoft for Windows, Mac OS, Android and IOS.

Calculation - simply type the equal sign followed by the numeric values that you want to calculate.
Graph - is a visual element that represents data in a worksheet.

Pivot table - used to summarize, sort, reorganize, group, count, total or average data stored in a table.

MICROSOFT EXCEL PARTS

1. Title Bar - displays the workbook name followed by a program name.

2. The Ribbon - contains all of the commands you will need to perform common tasks in Word.

3. The Name box - This shows the address of the current selection or active cell.

4. The Formula Bar - displays information entered-or being entered as you type in the current or active cell.

5. Worksheet Views - There are three ways to view a worksheet.

WK 6:

Microsoft Powerpoint - is a presentation program developed by Microsoft.

MICROSOFT POWERPOINT PARTS

1. Presentation Gallery - provides several ways to start your next presentations using template.

2. File Menu and Backstage View - contains all the creation, save, share, and print options.

3. Quick Access Toolbar - is a customizable toolbar plakced by default above the ribbon.

4. Ribbon - has tabs which in turn contain group of buttons for various options.

5. Slides Pane - located on the left side of the interface, shows thumbnails of all the sldies in the open presentation

6. Slides Area - displays the active slide.

7. Task Pane - contains more options and appears when you choose an option in one of the ribbon tabs.

8. Status Bar - a horizontal strip that provides information about the opened presentations.

9. Notes Pane - right below the active slide, this is where the speaker notes are written for the current slide.

10. Mini Toolbar - it's a semitransparent floating toolbar that spawns right next to a selected text.

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF GRAPHICS AND LAYOUT

1. Balance - The space is evenly distributed on the screen.

2. Emphasis - an area in the design that may appear different in size, texture, shape or color.

3. Movement - visual elements guide the viewer's eyes around the screen.

4. Pattern - These are the repeating visual elemtn on an image or layout to create unity in the layout or image.

5. Proportion - visual elements create a sense of unity where they relate well with one another.

6. Variety - This uses several design elemnts to draw attention.

Information graphics / Infographics - are used to represent information, statistical data, or knowledege in a
graphical manner

PRINCIPLES OF VISUAL DESIGN USING INFOGRAPHICS

1. Line - refers to an outline that sometiems create a shape.

2. Shapes - refers to an object that stands out.

3. Value - refers to the lightness or darkness in a design.

4. Form - refers to the volume or thickness of an object.

5. Texture - the way a platform or a surface supposed to feel.

6. Color - is the elemnt of art that involves light.

7. Contrast - is a principle of art that refers to the arrangement of opposite elements.

ONLINE FORMAT FOR TEXT & IMAGES

1. JPEG - Joint Photographic Experst Group, it's a standard image format containing lossy and compressed iamge
data.

2. PNG - Portable Network Graphic, is an image type that's commonly used in web design to provide a transparent
background.

3. GIF - Graphics Interchange Format, is a bitmap image format that was developed by a team.
4. DOC - is a filename extension for word processing documents.

5. PDF - Portable Document Format, used when you need to save files that cannot be modified but can easily be
shared/printed.

6. TXT - text file, used by a variety of text editors.

Image Manipulation - is the process of making modifications to a digital image in order to turn it into the desired
image.

1. Cropping - enhance focus and composition

2. Blurring - enhance background images

3. Saturation - enhance or reduce color intensity

4. Contrast - enhance highlights and shadows

5. Brightness - enhance overall lighting

6. FIlters - enahnce and correct photos

7. Arrangement - enahnce your layout with grids

8. Frames - enhance image shape and style

9. Layering - enhance images with overlays

10. Text - enhance images with typography on top.

1. Website - a set of related web pages located under a signle domain.

2. Webpage - is a document, commonly wirrten in HTML.

3. Web Server - is a computer that runs websites.

Online Platforms - is a specially developed platform using internet technology

1. Facebook - is the biggest and most popular social platform on the internet.

2. Instagram - is an online mobile media-sharing site that allows users to share pictures and videos.

3. Twitter - is online news and social networking service where users post and interact with messages.

1. Prezi - is a manufacturere of software for video and visual communication in Hungary.

2. Canva - is an australian platform for graphic design that may be used to produce social media graphics.

3. Slideshare - is a hosting compnay in the United States that Scribd now owns.

CLOUD COMPUTING

1. One Drive - is online personal storage that you get when you set up a microsoft account.

2. Dropbox is a cloud storage service provided by an American firm that offers a variety of advantages.

3. Google Drive - is a cloud-based file syncing and storage service created and released by google in 2012.

- Web design refers to the design of websites that are displayed on the internet

Content Management Systems - is a compute application that allows you to publish, edit, and manipulate web
content.

WYSIWYG - In computing , What You See Is What You Get is a system where editing software allows content to be
edited in a form that resembles its appearance when printed.
